They all centre around the same basics, but what makes one more believeable than another? Think about it, they all have the same amount of "proof" (meaning zero), and the Torah and Koran have been revised/edited/changed far less often than the bible. So it seems to me that the only reason you believe the bible is because you were culturally raised with it. Can you give me specific reasons why that may not be the case, and have you read both the Koran and Torah?

Wow. Everyone got nasty. I've read the bible through several times, so I'm very familiar with the OT. I do notice that you folks just decided to attack rather than answer. Nice approach, and not unexpected.

Religion is a cultural phenomenon and as you have said, it is essentially determined by the society and culture in which one is raised. I doubt whether just reading other holy books will make much difference as it is probably not easy to comprehend their significance unless you are part of the community which reveres them. People do change religions, but again I think this generally results from exposure to and identification with another culture , moral and social system and lifestyle, rather than a different set of revelations from a different holy book.

The Torah simply comprises the first 5 books of the OT. So it is included in the Bible.
The Koran was written by one man. It is one man's vision or interpretation of that vision versus the Bible which was written by about 40 men all having the same vision and interpretation. Whose word are you willing to accept one witness or the witness of 40 different men from differing times, occupations and backgrounds.
That alone makes the Bible more believable than the Koran.
In addition, the Bible has been shown to be historically accurate. Archeology confirms it. There are over 12,000 early copies of the Bible that were shown to be incredibly accurate when compared with the dead sea scrolls.
The Bible answers life's big questions. Where did we come from? Why are we here? Where do we go when we die?
The Koran promises 70 virgins for suicide bombers? Please.
God according to the Koran is unapproachable, distant, stuck up some might say.
The God of the Bible loves us so much that He came to die for us so that we might live forever. Where is that love in the Koran?
More could be said, but that is enough to start with.

The Torah is Jesus' Bible. But you made an honest mistake. The Koran is a cheap effort by a drug induced proud Arab who wanted to compete with his Jewish half-brothers. So he elevated his god Allah (the Moon God) to a place of honor, called himself the prophet, wrote the book on his own, and now has people worshiping a meteorite 5 times a day (I think). It is so sad.
The Bible was written (Torah/Old Testament and New Testament) over the period of about 2000 years or so. It had many different authors from many different walks of life and eras. However, all the 66 books of the canonized (accepted universally) Bible have a common thread.
Jesus Christ. He is the difference. He is the mystery of the Old Testament Paul writes about. He is the miracle working, God in the Flesh, Savior of Mankind in the New Testament.
Jesus' claims are either completely absurd, insane or true. It is up to you to decide what you believe. But as promised, you will be judged by your decision.
At the name of Jesus every knee shall bow. Including yours. I just hope you do it willingly before you die.

Because the Bible was written by over 40 men over a 1500 year period of time, all of which is 'in line' with each other and very few of them ever knew each other as opposed to the Koran (Qua ran) that was written by one person who was illiterate and his book is not in harmony as the Bible is.
The Qur'an states that it is a perfect book preserved on tablets in heaven (Surah 85:21-22). If the Qur'an is a perfect book from Allah, then there shouldn't be any contradictions in it. http://www.carm.org/islam/Koran_contradictions.htm
The Bible on the other hand has no Contradictions in it, only verses taken out of context by skeptics who do not understand it's meaning and are looking for reasons out of hatred to refute it.
List of many of these 'alledged' contradictions here.

Uh, do you have ANY clue what the Old Testament is? (hint: obviously you DON'T)
The Holy Bible is a collection of various texts written by a number of varied authors.
The koran was invented by muhammed after he was rejected by BOTH Judaism and Christianity. It only takes a few minutes of reading the koran to see what it is truly about (take particular note of the hatred, violence and intolerance of SPECIFICALLY Jews and Christians).
Seek "proof" to your hearts content. It's the banner that many people fly as they wail against faith and trust in the love and mercy of the one true God.
And, remember, the covenant of the New Testament offers salvation of the eternal soul thru Jesus, Son of God. All you have to do is accept.
It really IS that simple.

!!!: you are absolutely correct!!!
Sinneo: I take you haven't read the Koran.
It was written in arabic and it is forbidden to be translated for fear of the christian problem of "lost in translation" how do you know you are reading and worshiping the same bible that was written originaly?? you can't know because you don't know how many times it was translated and by who.
Sinneo: Do you know the origin of Islam? i bet you don't. It started when Muhammed was in the desert and the Christian and Jewish god approached him in the form of the angel Gabriel and told him that the christian and jewish people had taken his word out of context and he was supposed to purify it.

The Torah is the Old testament right? Part of the Bible? You might as well ask why we don't believe in Greek mythology or Hindu scriptures.

Because the person behind the NT said he not only could show the way of life, but he was the way of life, and to prove that the grave could not hold him captive he would lead by example and be the pioneer. Now what other self proclaimed spiritual leader did that?

The Koran is not similar to the bible.....

It really comes down to this question:
Q: How do we know that Christianity is the "right" religion?
A: Because it's the only one whose founder is still alive.
