Hi

I have saw a psychiastrist a few years ago and found it much easier to talk to my psychiastrist than a member of my family. As a result I was able to resolve my issues and move forwards in life.

A good psychiastrist should be empathic, compassionate and non-judgemental.

A psychiastrist is there to help you to help yourself so that you are able to put your past behind you, resolve your issues and cope better in life.

I also recommend a good Cognitive Behavioural Therapist.

Hope you get your life back on track soon. Take care of yourself and treat yourself with loving-kindness. And... big hugs too!!!

Blessings and Love x

If it's your first time, you may be a little nervous about things, but most of the doctors in our hospital (psychiatrists) are very nice people. Try writing down the issues you want to discuss before you go there because sometimes we can forget things once we get to the doctor. Take your time and dont be afraid that you'll sound foolish or anything. Everybody has different problems but we all do have problems. The doctor is there to listen and counsel you. The point is-you're getting help and that puts you ahead of a lot of people.

No it is not difficult to speak to a psychiatrist. I am normally not that open with people about stuff that I am going though but when I went to a psychiatrist the first time I thought that I would be sitting there saying absolutly nothing but that wasn't the case I acutally open up to her. Just be honest with your psychiatrist they are there to help you not to judge you.

A lot depends on their personality, and particular psychiatric discipline. Also, on how sensitive you are to certain personalities. In a general medical sense, psychiatrists are trained in patient care, and will be open to talk therapy sessions, or general information sessions. However, this is a process of finding the right doctor for your needs. They will not be offended if you "shop around" at first.

I think it is difficult to be truthful with a psychiatrist. I mean being completely honest. That is extremely hard... something I could not do.

I think it's pretty easy. But like many say, it depends on your personality and what you are discussing.
My 16-yr daughter has had no problem talking to hers. It helps to talk things out with someone outside of your circle and they are not judgemental.

Not at all, as a matter of fact, it is the complete opposite. This has been my experience. They can really put you at ease and comfortable talking to them.

It may take some time to be able to open up to them, but it is pretty easy to talk to them.

It can be but they understand that. They will mostly ask questions. Just answer the questions as honestly as you can. Don't be embarrassed. They have really heard it all.

Quite the contrary... it is very easy. They are trained to wheedle stuff out of you, and to do so they make you very comfortable and willing to spill your guts.
