The flu should last two weeks and after two weeks you should be getting better every day. A month after onset you should be close to normal. Many other illnesses have flu like symptoms and a secondary infection would also make you feel bad for more than two weeks. I strongly recommend a trip to the doctor - let him/her know what symptoms your experiencing and the timeline of your illness. Insist on further testing if they're not sure what's wrong with you.

I was given some advice by a young woman that worked in a doctors office. When you have a cold or the flu keep your sheets and pillow cases clean. Change them everyday if need be. Usually you will only have to do it a couple of times. Especially now with your flu subsiding don't sleep on the same bedding otherwise you are re-infecting yourself. Also wash and dry your pillows. If this was done when you first had the symptoms you would have been healed by now.

If what you had was a virus you'll have it for life. People forget (or don't know )anti-biotics kill bacteria not a virus!
You can treat the symptoms but it just goes dormant and it's still lurking inside your body to the next time your immune system weakens under attack! Still and all you should take a visit to a Doctor and you don't need to make a loan if you can't afford to go to a private doctor, you can go to your board of health nearest your area for free. Also many people don't realize that the Salvation Army give free physicals on certain days. Depending on where you live you could look up your city's free clinics on the net. Hope you feel better!

One thing that I have learned is to throw away my toothbrush when I'm sick. It has germs from when you first got sick. What i usually do is get those cheap toothbrushes from the dollar store some have 5 or 6 in a pack I use once and throw it away. After I'm over the cold, flu or whatever, I buy a good one again. I noticed a shorter duration of my illness when i started doing this. Good luck

It isn't that early in the season kiddo, but flu virus doesn't last a month, you have something else going on I'd bet, like maybe an allergic component, or a secondary viral infection.
I find Zicam nasal swabs to be an effective treatment for viral infections, use package instructions.

first, make sure it is the flu. the flu should be something seasonal. usually, it will pass with LOTS of rest, liquids (no alcohol or sugary sodas), a bland diet ( simple foods like soups or noodles), and no stenuous activity (as this could exacerbate your condition). if you do not rest, you will not recover quickly. that is most important. I mean, sleeping like you are bedridden. remember not to take any antibiotics. antibiotics do nothing for the flu. the flu is a virus. antibiotics work only on bacterial infections.

If you can afford to go to the Doctor that would be a good idea. If you can't afford to see a Doctor get a small loan and see one anyway. Your sick and it's prob not the flu. Any illness lasting for more than a couple weeks is in need of medical attention.

Keep getting plenty of rest so your immune system can get back on track! Also, try eating maybe a diet that has more fruits and vegtables so you can get plenty of vitamins in your body! Hope you feel better :)
