If the christians are raptured first and the unfaithful must undergo 7 years of tribulation, how does that fit with the parable of the tares and wheat in Matthew 13: 24-30 where the tares (unbelievers) are taken out first and then the wheat (christians) are then taken out right after?

The rapture is a modern creation and has nothing to do with the theology of the historic church. It took hold due to the creation of the modern state of Israel, creating a new take on what the passages in Revelation and Daniel mean. Most of it has been debunked or hashed so far out of the mainstream due to recent or future news about this or that in the Middle East. The wheat and the tares parable makes sense to most other millennial and eschatological views.

It doesn't.
The tares are taken out first although the time between the separation is unspecified. The Rapture is a theological fantasy.
Matthew 13
30Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn.

Here are two resources for you. Go well.

The parable is not about the end times; it is about current times....it talks about WHY God allows the tares to grow up instead of just pulling them out while the wheat grows.

Not every story is a parallel to every other thing in the Bible.

No that doesn't fit, because it was the tares that they wanted to pull.
But, if they pulled up the tares the wheat would be pulled up too (since the roots/plants were tangled), so they had to leave them.

So, that would be backwards from the rapture (which would be christians 1st).

Do not confuse the Jews with Christians during the Church Age.

Your fundamental interpretive mistake is trying to use Matthew that was written in Hebrew to the Jews to understand how God is going to relate to gentile believers during the Tribulation Period and the Rapture.

Matthew 13 & especially Matthew 24 are not for us. They are for God's Chosen people.

God bless you in your studies. Keep up the good questions.

In the rapture, the dead in Christ will be taken first and those who are alive in Christ will follow to meet with Him above. Unbelievers have no part in the rapture.

the rapture is a false teaching, no one is going anywhere, Jesus is coming here to rule in his kingdom on earth
