For three year olds (especially boys) toy cars or action figures are always nice. Sports toys such as tennis rackets, or baseball bats and balls are fun too, or bowling balls and pins. Books are excellent gifts as well, children should acquire a love of reading at any age. You don't need to spend a lot of money to get the items I suggested. They're available everywhere at reasonable prices.
For an infant such as your daughter, cuddly stuffed animals, new clothes or a music box for her crib would be nice.

Well, I'm sure your son will appreciate most any toy he gets, at least I did at Christmas. Since he's almost 4 he might enjoy action figures, kids movies such as finding nemo, ANYTHING to play outside with such as sidewalk chalk, a baseball mit/ball/tee set, a bike with training wheels, anything to roleplay with such as pirate costumes.

As far as your daughter, I don't think she'll notice whether or not she'll get presents. But if ya like, you could get her a baby album or scrapbook of her first Christmas? or just any baby supplies you'll need for her.

This early in the game of childhood, buy cheap interactive toys. They won't remember the actual toys, but if you buy toys that stimulate cognitive growth, it supposedly makes children smarter and more aware of their surroundings at an earlier age.

That type of toys are like blocks, rattles, anything simple.

that depends on you too many parents put to much into Christmas and forget what its really about my children get only a few a gifts and they are very happy with that because they know that the gifts aren't about them they are about Jesus and because He is not physically here to open his own gifts then they are able to do it for Him and they are thankful that they receive gifts for themselves even though its not there birthday we are celebrating
