I like watching Alton Brown describe the science, but I also like trying to make new combinations and add new twists to old favorites, and try to inspire beaty with the food, not just presentation, but taste!

I feel that cooking is more art than science, because there is lots of room to be creative. Baking can sometimes be more science, because you have to be more precise with ingredients, temperatures, times, otherwise disasters can happen!

It's both! Science is definitely the "cooking" part of the process, knowing how to put flavours together, how much to use is all definitely science-related. Look at baking. In profesisonal baking, we don't have recipes, we have formulas. 100% flour, 43% brown sugar, 1.2% vanilla extract etc.

The art comes into the plating of the food. It doesn't matter how good your food tastes, your first impression is the look of the food so it has to look good. Some amazing chefs are always held back because they have problems with the artistic part of the meal.

Mainly, I think cooking is about feeling. I know all the science behind the flavours, the chemical reactions but when I'm having a bad day, the food just doesn't turn out quite as well. If you're having a great day, maybe you're newl in love, perhaps, even the worst cook can turn out something amazing!

Happy cooking adventures!

It's both! The art comes in the presentation, as food artfully prepared serves to awaken the senses and, as a result, appears to taste better. The science lies in the melding of the right spices in the right proportions, added at the right time, to produce the dishes you serve. I truly believe your query was couched correctly, in that you used the phrase "good cooking" rather than just "cooking." Good cooking is always a wonderfilled amalgam of art and science. Bon appetit!!!

Cooking is an artwork. You follow a algorithm and spot you later as you accompanied it, you will get a clever meal. Baking is a technology. in case you do not follow precisely and characteristic the understanding of the regulations you may fail miserably.

Science!! Because you have to put things together that complement each other. Now presentation is more of a art.

Depends on what you are cooking. If its fancy, its art. If its full of flavor, a science.

It's an art... it's creating something that is beautiful to look at and eat.
