Intelligently and logically, how can I propose the idea that just dressing radically doesn't somehow mean you're not a good Christian, or not a Christian at all?
Arguments against this include the fact that nonconforming is a form of rebellion, which stems from anger, which can be a sin. There's...quite a lot against it. How do I really get into the issues surrounding this, psychologically/spiritually/religiously/etc, to defend it?

I think what I've heard on this is that those against extreme styles of dress say that whoever dresses as such is associating him/herself to a certain group of people that don't necessarily reflect Christian values.
Certainly, this is true in some circles. But more often it hold absolutely no water at all.
(And Jolly Roger: I agree - most of my arguements take that route.)

How about the freedom of personal expression or personal taste? The Bible teaches that God judges the heart, not the apparel. John the Baptist was persecuted similarly for not conforming to society. Not to mention, Christ Himself.

"nonconforming is a form of rebellion, which stems from anger, which can be a sin"
Why is nonconforming a form of rebellion and not just a preferred style? Even if it is a form of rebellion, rebellion is not necessarily out of anger, anger may accompany it, but it is not the causal factor. Given this, when would anger be a sin? There goes that argument as a set of invalid assumptions.

There is no real standard of accepted dress in society at least not in a general sense. In segments of society, like the professional arena, there are standards/guidelines while on the job but these are not carried over to your personal life.

There is nothing inherently evil in clothes styles.

People that hung up on what you wear need to remember one thing... God looks at the heart and not much else.

I personally won't go to a church that had an official or unofficial dress code as I think they are probably just a bunch of stuffy traditionalists that worry about appearances rather than things that matter.

Everyone needs to express themselves.
Although I dress conservatively I express myself through sports - and I'm sure many Christians would describe my competitiveness as anger.
It's not anger, it's who I am.

We all sin. If there is judgement on a particular person because of how they are dressed is wrong because one is not supposed to judge

Simple: Jesus was a non-conformist too.

God needs know one to defend him. He says we are to do the loving. He is the one that works it out. So we are to pray.
Cast all of our cares on him for he cares for us.
