he asked to be crucified that way but, the bottom line is things do not happen unless it is the will of God---either his permissive will or his ordaining will) so he would be a mirror image of Christ---"we were made in his image"

Thy will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven

That is very interesting...one of those types and shadows things that I love to run across....I don't think he was thinking that at the time,,,,he just didn't feel worthy to die as his Savior had,,,but nevertheless,,,,it is very interesting way of looking at it....makes sense..

Peter was crucified upside down because he felt unworthy as mentioned.
He did not necessarily ask for it, but he did in a way "ask for it"
Not worthy of being crucified like Jesus..... well here you go, how's that,
It was a cruel "joke".
Trivia.....You will see the inverted cross on papal banners as a symbol of Peter ,the first pope.
Also , some people actually think it has satanic significance.

ok like the first person said, Peter was supposed to be crucified, he didnt feel worthy to die the same way as Jesus, especially since he denied Christ 3 times before the crucification. So when they were gunna crucify him he asked to be hung upside down.

BUT I have to say you are really good at looking into symbolism and stuff, I would have NEVER thought of that. But, now thats not why he was hung upside down.

And also its not the will of God for someone to say die or whatever, he wants his people to live, he knows its going to happen. The will of God is for us to be perfect and sinless but we screwed that one up so because of sinning we get all these nasty things back like death and stuff. Because a perfect person would never die but were far from perfect thats why perfect Jesus had to die for our sin. Get it? lol.wow that was long to type. Hope I helped :)

The official answer to that is that he requested to be crucified that way because he felt unworthy to die in the same manner as Christ.

It's a really interesting thought though. :)

I think Peter requested that, because he felt unworthy to die as Christ did. But, very interesting thought.
Of course the protestants don't even think he was in Rome, DESPITE mountains of historical evidence, so don't expect a good answer out of them

So, according to you, it was Gods will that a stray dog bite off my pinkie finger when I was a child?

Wow. Profound. I had not thought of that. Ever. But then again, my wife drank most of this morning's first pot of coffee, and I'm not fully awake yet.

Good show, Midge!
