Zoloft is an antidepressant in a group of drugs called selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs). Zoloft affects chemicals in the brain that may become unbalanced and cause depression, panic, anxiety, or obsessive-compulsive symptoms.

Zoloft is used to treat depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder, panic disorder, anxiety disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD).

Zoloft may also be used for purposes other than those listed in this medication guide.

the above was taken from www.drugs.com for your information.

I took zoloft for depression and it made me aggressive, and enhanced my mood to the point of hospitalization. Just so you know, that is a rare side effect.

We are all individual, so drugs can effect us in different ways. Talk with your doctor if you are prescribed a medication which does not seem to work well, or side-effects last a long time.

Drugs such as anti-depressants can take 4-6 weeks to start working properly, so a person who just begins taking them needs to give them a chance to work. Everyone does not experience the same side-effects, and sometimes a person will have none at all.

You can do a Yahoo search for any drug for more information, or go to www.drugs.com to see listings of side-effects and get other helpful information.

Zoloft is an anti-depression medication. It can also be used to treat anxiety, OCD, post-traumatic stress disorder. Some people may have severe side effects including hyperactivity. If this is the case, then that person definitely needs to go back to the doctor to get re-evaluated. The doctor may prescribe something else with less side effects.

Zoloft is a reuptake inhibitor. It should relax you and make you less depressed. It's an anitdepressant. All drugs interact with people differently. For instance coffee makes me tired and narcotics make me hyped up.
