Absolutely. The only debatable point is by what degree.
The Qur'an:Sura (4:11) - (Inheritance) "The male shall have the equal of the portion of two females" (see also Sura (4:176)).

Sura (2:282) - (Court testimony) "And call to witness, from among your men, two witnesses. And if two men be not found then a man and two women"
Sura (24:31) - Women are to lower their gaze around men, so they do not look them in the eye.
Sura (4:3) - (Wife-to-husband ratio) "Marry women of your choice, Two or three or four"
Bukhari (6:301) - "[Muhammad] said, 'Is not the evidence of two women equal to the witness of one man?' They replied in the affirmative. He said, 'This is the deficiency in her intelligence.'"The fourth Caliph, who was Muhammad's son-in-law and cousin, said just a few years after the prophet's death that "The entire woman is an evil. And what is worse is that it is a necessary evil."
A traditional Islamic saying is that, "A woman's heaven is beneath her husband's feet."

No, it does not. The bible says the same thing about women. Luckily, they aren't going by that now. We'd all be in a terrible world.

Like I said the first time you asked this: Uh no, women are to be respected in Islam and appear "less than" to some outsiders because some cultural differences are all some people see, especially those who don't really look at the more altruistic understanding of the prophet's teachings.

Women were rescued from maltreatment before Muhammad was expected to recite, and that time frame is called the jahiliya "Times of Ignorance". It was a time when women were much abused and the birth of a daughter was grounds for her death. Some cultures stick to old ideas but true Islam does NOT teach that.

Women work hard, especially if they stay at home and take care of the house and children, men are expected to support them, and please them. The "traditional" Islamic saying is that HEAVEN is at the feet of the MOTHER, therefore you must respect your mother and women in general.

That some people twist this around for their own sad agendas isn't the fault of those Muslims who are altruistic, wise, compassionate, etc. It's illogical to claim all are as such for the ideas of a few.

It seems you would benefit from a few actual years of REAL study in Islam.

Actually, the saying is "Heaven lies between your MOTHER'S feet."

Thereis a hadith when i man asks who he should honour first, his mother or father. The prophet says, "You mother, your mother, your mother, and then your father."

And as for the men to women ratio, Islam doesn't encourage polygamy, it simply allows it, even though it is not recommended. However, you seem to think that's unfair. Tell me, if a woman had 4 husbands, how on earth would she know which children are who's? Don't you think that the fact that a woman can only have one husband makes life a lot easier?

Men have to lower their gaze too. In fact, the reason that men pray in front of women in mosques, is merely so that they don't end up looking at a woman's backside and lose their respect.

Why did you answer your own question?

Also, here in the civilized world (which apparently isn't where you come from) men and women are equal. If you would like to live in the current century, I suggest you learn and accept that.

Well, the Constitution of the United States says that women can't vote and Black men are worth 3/5 of a person. At least we've (for the most part) corrected for that, but it's important to remember that nothing, even the things we value above almost all else, is perfect.

Certainly not!

-Allah has stated that all humans are created equal
-Muhammed (pbuh) was asked by someone about who his companion should be. The prophet said: your mother, you mother, your mother, then your father.

There is much more but life is too short to be wasted on your ignorant question. Do your research. May Allah guide u.

That is why I hate fundamentalist religions regardless of who they follow. All of them try to subjugate woman. I am teaching my children spirituality, not religious control. The religion I was brought up in takes and takes from nuns, quite happy to do so. However, in the event a particular group as a whole gets too old to help themselves, the church wants nothing to do with them. They have seen the last of my donations in their money grubbing baskets.

I just read the other responses and want to point out that I am talking about fundamentalism as it pertains to any religion. The quotes provided by the person questioning made it quite clear the religious perspective is fundamentalist. I see value in any religion that has a healthy connection to spiritualism and the truth of our reality.

I like it when people actually use the Coran to say it.

Most people who try to denounce the situation often don't have the quotes to go with it.

So thank you!
