Someone just answered my question with a confusing statement: We have all been redeemed, but redemption and salvation are not the same.

O.k.

Can anyone tell me what the difference is?

Lucid -- but what does it mean to be redeemed, but not saved? If you're redeemed, aren't you saved?

Difference Between Salvation And Redemption

2017-01-09 15:27:02 · answer #2 · answered by ? 4 · 0 0

Very simply, by the shedding of His Blood on the cross, Christ redeemed all men.

Redemption means the paying of the price. Let us take a simple example. If ten men are in jail because they could not pay a hundred dollars fine, they remain there to the end of the sentence or have someone pay the fine. Let us say a redeemer gives the court a thousand dollars for the ten men. All have been redeemed. However, just two leave the jail, and other eight continue their jail sentence. What do we have? We have ten men redeemed (the price for them was paid). However, only two were saved. They had the gumption to get up and leave the jail when the cage was opened.
Once again, all men have been redeemed by Christ, and yet some refuse to make use of Christ’s redeeming death.

Jesus Christ Suffered and Died for the redemption of the sinful . Salvation is a destiny reward for dedicated saints and that we would want to continually attempt to be chanced on worth to acquire it (Luke 13:24). Salvation is glorification - God's destiny reward for his obedient toddlers.

Salvation is being saved from everlasting death - Jesus Christ saved all mankind, regardless of race, religion [or lack there of], etc. This is referring only to the fact that all men will be resurrected, being raised to immortality and reunited body and spirit.
Redemption is the state of our everlasting soul. Whether we died in our sins or not. The atonement of Jesus Christ was sufficient to satisfy the demands of justice on our soul, but we must repent and receive a remission of our sins to be 'redeemed' through the atonement. This is the great mercy of our Savior, that he would pay the agonizing price of our sins and satisfy Justice that we could return our Father in Heaven. Redemption determines with whom we reside after death, not whether or not we rise from the deat. God cannot abide wickedness. Those who do not repent of their sins, do not access the atonement and have no way to be redeemed. Does that help?

redemption is a trade... such as Jesus traded His life for ours and salvation is the end result of the redemption it is the freedom of eternal life

you are only saved if you choose to except what Jesus did for you..everyone has been redeemed but not saved

Being redeemed from the fall means that we will be able to overcome our corruptible body. Our bodies will be raised from corruption to incorruption. If that makes sense. Salvation is actually the steps we take to follow the example of the Savior and become more like our Father in heaven. I can give you more details if this isn't helping. Just let me know.
