I don't want to have it in my home and I am only inviting family which adds up to 15 invitations but they all have children! That means like 50 people. I called Shoney's but they only do parties on the weekdays but everyone's working then!

I would try renting a local lodge or even do it at the bowling alley (if there are older kids involved) Another suggestion would be renting out an area at a local kid friendly restaurant. At a past birthday party (for a 1 yo) they gave all the decorations to Applebee's and they decorated this little area really nice. They even moved a few tables to accomodate the presents and toys the parents were bring in. Now granted they did this in the middle of the day when it wasn't busy. Good luck! We've always had the best of luck with just having it our lil 2 bedroom apt. My daughter is in her element and everything is child-proofed already :)

where i live the park district charges like $100 a day to rent out their facility. that way money is going to a good cause to help the community & it is private. Of course that means you have to do the cooking & the cleanup to get your deposit back, but then you also get to decorate however you want.
Personally i would avoid chuckee cheese - if she's 1 yr old shes not gonna care about that & it will be too noisy for you to have conversations with all the people that have come to see her. I have heard of some bowling alleys being able to be rented if you are looking for space & I guess then if there are older kids/ family members they could entertain themselves.

Since she is still so young she probably will not even enjoy Chuck E Cheese or a place like that. The most important thing for the first birthday is getting those cake pictures where they get it all over. Nothing else really matters except that family and friends are there.

Check w/ some local kid friendly restaurants and see if they have any rooms that can be rented for parties. I did that for my daughters 3rd b-day. We went to a place that had a buffet (so there would be lots of choices for picky eaters) and used a room in the back. We did nt even have to pay for the room as long as we were eating so it was a really cheap party. We had games for them to play as well but since your daughter is one you don't really need to go through all that.

It doesn't have to be a huge party, keep it simple. Limit the size of the party to her nanny/baby sitter, any siblings, and grandparents (if they can make it) from both sides, her father (if on good terms) and any of your/his siblings that live close by.

Spread a tarp/heavy bed sheet on the floor, plop a piece of cake on it, and sit her on the sheet next to the cake in just her diaper and let her have at it.

Take lots of photos, both video and still.

Hold it at chuckie cheese or pizza hut, or even at McDonald's where they have a play land, or even a neighbor/relatives house.

Don't forget the cake and take tons of photos.

I don't know if you have something like a Little Gym in your area but they provide the entertainment napkins, cups, plates, and a room to open gifts for about $100 for 4 hours.

ask a relative to have it at their house. first birthdays are great, but a place like chuckie cheese might be too much for a little one. i have always had mine at home. this way your daughter is comfortable in the setting and will have a better time, better to play in a home setting. best of luck!
