have the highest rates of divorce in America, while the blue states like Massachusetts, have the lowest rates of divorce.
Why do you think the areas of the U.S. which have the most conservative Christians also have the highest divorce rates? Is it education? Is it income? is it ironic?
Express yourself, thank you.

Yes, and they also have the highest teen pregnancy rate. They get pregnant because they didn't have comprehensive sex ed, then the marry out of societal pressure, and get divorced five years later.

As with anything, I suspect the answer is several things. For one thing, conservative religion will often convince people to get married before having sex, which leads to a lot of marriages which are entered into just for that, although the couple is rarely aware of it at the time. Later, when the sexual attraction has worn off, they find they have nothing in common. I don't think it's low income, since that is more likely to encourage unmarried partnering. I'm sure other people can come up with other reasons.

Are folks in the Bible Belt marrying at younger ages? Are household incomes lower in the Bible Belt? I believe it is yes to both of these questions. Marrying too young and money problems contribute a lot to the divorce rate in our country, not just in the Bible Belt.

Could be education. In general terms, Massachusetts is a very highly educated state. Tends to be open minded, so its people strive for a higher more deeply oriented spirituality, which lends itself to higher values. The bible belt states tend to be less educated and the people have a word based religion which is shallow.

Maybe because so many unmarried people live together in the more liberal states? When they split up it doesn't count as a divorce, but I'm pretty sure they do plenty of breaking up too.

Very ironic, but not surprising.
Many fundamentalists try their best to get their spiritual needs met through man-made religions that have very erroneous teachings, such as that a woman must always be subservient to her husband.
This ends up in tragedy, since it is not God's will for people.

Sexual stigmas. Kids getting married quick so they can "do it"
"Living in the bible belt doesn't automatically make someone a Christian" - Over 90% in most of those states.

Because most who claim the name of Christ are in actuality clueless as to who He is. They commit crimes in His name, and bring shame upon it. They also are in for a big shock come the judgment day.

Maybe its the setting. A nice country home should have a better family then a small apartment in a bad area. Why? Because they have space and its better for people's health.
