.. and were assured the big man in the sky Himself would answer it, what would ask Him?

Here's mine...
"Since you have the power to prevent it, why do you allow so many innocent people to suffer and die?"

That is a good question and one I would want to ask myself.

I'd ask him, "Since you have the power to destroy all those godless, evil and wicked people who cause so much suffering, will you stay your hand for a while longer so that the meek, the innocent and those who have not yet heard about you get a chance to come to Christ and know him as Lord and Saviour?"

You see, God is patient. He does not desire that anyone perish. He holds back his wrath and righteous indignation because he wants people to come to him. Careful what you ask for in case it happens. If God did intervene in human affairs right now, how many of us would be left standing? NOW is the time to come to Christ, to bend the knee and humbly seek him, while he may yet be found.

Here's mine....
"Since you have the power to prevent it, why do you allow so many scoffers and evil people to keep existing and sinning when you could've wiped them out a long time ago?"

I will never understand His longsuffering or His mercy and grace for any of us sinful humans, as we most certainly don't deserve the love He showed in sending His Son as atonement for us. But I accept it by faith, and I also am confident of how the story ends:

Revelation 22:10 And he said to me, “Do not seal the words of the prophecy of this book, for the time is at hand. 11 He who is unjust, let him be unjust still; he who is filthy, let him be filthy still; he who is righteous, let him be righteous[e] still; he who is holy, let him be holy still.” 12 “And behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to give to every one according to his work. 13 I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, the First and the Last.”
14 Blessed are those who do His commandments, that they may have the right to the tree of life, and may enter through the gates into the city. 15 But outside are dogs and sorcerers and sexually immoral and murderers and idolaters, and whoever loves and practices a lie. 16 “I, Jesus, have sent My angel to testify to you these things in the churches. I am the Root and the Offspring of David, the Bright and Morning Star.” 17 And the Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” And let him who hears say, “Come!” And let him who thirsts come. Whoever desires, let him take the water of life freely.
18 For I testify to everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: If anyone adds to these things, God will add to him the plagues that are written in this book; 19 and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away[k] his part from the Book of Life, from the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book. 20 He who testifies to these things says, “Surely I am coming quickly.”
Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus!
21 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.

Amen. Even so, Lord Jesus, come quickly!

If I could ask one question it would be "Lord, could I go back and start all over again knowing what I know today?"

The answer to your question is that we have free will...and we constantly attack each other. God has no power over our will...He only offers us the choice.

My question would be...
How can we fix it?

I wouldn't ask Him anything; I'd just listen to what He had to say.

FYI, the question "why am I here?" was answered by "God" in the film 'Dogma.'
