He's not important to North Carolina. He is important to NASCAR because he had a lot of experience coming in, he is a fan favorite (okay don't boo me, a lot of people do like him!) and he brings a different attitude than the cut and dry Jeff Gordon. Not an insult to Jeff but he used to be very straight laced and Tony's bad boy attitude gave him a different spin.

edit..
do you mean important to Nextel Cup? Do you just want to focus on his career there? Or all of NASCAR? Or North Carolina? Or Nasal Cannulas?

Tony Stewart is not important to NC, if you mean North Carolina, he is a Indiana man I suggest you get your facts straight or your sons paper will be incorrect!

What's NC? North Carolina? He's important for NASCAR because of name recognition. The state- I have no idea. He lives in Indiana.

I believe you must mean NasCar. Check out tonystewart.com and click on "bio" It gives a world of information about Tony.

Based on my personal observations, Tony is important to nascar in many ways. His level of racing talent is amoung the elete. He's a champion at every level he's ever competed in, twice in the Nascar cup series. He's known as a hot head on the track, but has a heart of gold off the track for charity work especially for needy children. I was able to meet him when he came through our town on a PR visit. I hope this helps.

I think she/he means Nextel Cup.....

Tony is important in that he was one of, if not the first, driver to compete in both The Indy 500, and Coca Cola 600 on the same day. Not only that, he did it twice.

He was a crossover driver from Indy to Nascar.

He was a somewhat sucessful Indy driver, but Nascar caught his eye.

I hope this helps.
