Do you find it offensive to hear people make jokes about your system of believing, whatever it may be? What about people who agree with your system, but still make jokes in the name of light hearted humor?

Religion is a joke... sometimes it's the only way to survive dealing with those who promote it...

A sense of humor regarding religion is fine. What is not good is making assaults that are disguised as humor. I'm very often reminded of racist "jokes" when I see what some like to pawn off as "humor" in regard to religion.

I think light hearted humor, especially about religion, is a good thing. Now that's different from the outright hatefulness or ridicule...but I do think that it's a good practice to make fun of your own religion sometimes and build a bridge to your brother with the beam from your own eye.

I'm mostly an agnostic, so I'm not so invested in my beliefs that I can't stand others to pick on them.

As a former Christian, I probably would never make a really blasphemous joke about that or another religion, but I think most religious humor is pretty harmless.

I think like any other topic, it can be funny as long as it isn't hurting someone. If your object in joking about religion is just to hurt or insult the person who has that belief, that's not cool at all. But if it's actually funny and lighthearted, then there's no problem with that.

Sense of humor, no. But there is something wrong with having a sense of ignorance about religion.

You pose two questions do you not? Is it offensive for people to mock ones religion? Only if one is insecure in ones belief would one be vulnerable to offense. Anyone making fun of my path is just ignorant of the path. Being absolutely secure in my path places it and me above the reproach of others.

To make fun of another's religion is simply dumb. That is, it indicates an ignorance of how desperately people cling to religion in the face of a world that is quite dangerous and often threatening. It is insensitive to try and cut such people off from their lifeline. Let people cling to what makes life bearable...

I hope not or I'm screwed. Good news is my gods have a sense of humor. A really, really odd one, but a sense of humor none the less.

It depends on the humor. God has a sense of humor, so humor in and of itself is not wrong. It is when humor is misused, as in ethnic jokes, or blasphemy, when it becomes offensive.

You can"t help but laugh when you see some of the questions and answers from some of the religious on here. I think some do see the funny side though, apart from the fundies who have no sense of humour.

If you cannot keep a good sense of humor and learn to laugh at yourself, you are taking life way too seriously.
