I wouldn't do it yet. Glycolic isn't as harsh as a chemical peel but you shouldn't start it until you really need to. It can actually make things worse if you start too early and don't keep up with it- it makes your cells turn over faster to speed exfoliation so that the lines don't get deeper. I usually don't recommend them for fainter lines and especially if your skin is temperamental, as you stated. You can get a lot of great exfoliating facials without chemicals, enzyme treatments, ultrasonic skin scrubbing treatments which are wonderful.. another thing to try is a collagen blanket facial which is wonderfully moisturizing and can really help plump up and fill in lines- after all, lines are initially caused by lack of moisture. It's also very healing and soothing. Pair that with a nice exfoliating treatment and put off the glycolic for a few more years! These facials are much more relaxing and pleasurable than a glycolic treatment. Good luck!

I was in the same position as you and had the same questions about a year ago. I too have very sensitive skin and I started to see some very shallow lines. I also noticed though, that my skin began to look a bit different. I'm not sure how to describe it but it just didn't look as healthy.

I was fortunate because I work in women's health and beauty and I was able to talk to some really knowledgeable scientists and researchers.

I decided to go with a 10% glycolic wash and glycolic toner. I used that every other day and then gradually increase to once a day. Every two weeks I do what is called a progressive peel and I let the wash stay on my face for up to about 6 minutes. (My skin cannot handle anything longer than that or I'll start to feel the irritation come on) I noticed a HUGE difference in my skin and now when I don't use it, I can see my old skin coming back in a matter of weeks.

I personally wouldn't recommend a peel. They tend to be a little bit harsh but you may want to try the wash and toner. You can use it at your discretion and then progressively increase usage until you are comfortable with the results. Remember though, it will take a good 30 days or more to see the results if you use the wash.

I would be cautious about getting a peel. There are so many types and strengths of peels that I would recommend reearching some other alternatives first, especially because you have tempremental skin. A series of professional facials coupled with a using a quality product line could give you the same if not better and longer lasting results. Skin care is like anything else, a quick fix will only bring temporary satisfaction.

Everything depends on whom advised you that, only a certified and experienced medical professional (besides plastic surgeons, I am not sure, but I think dermathologist are also certified for that) should evaluate your case and recommend what is the best option for you. What do you mean with temeramental skin? Anyhow, read this before you go for it, it says a lot about chemical peels http://www.aestheticandplastic.com/procedures/chemical-peel-2.html

All the best!
