I was surprised to read this morning on Jayski.com that other teams may be looking @ trying to sign Allmendinger. I like the guy, and think he has great potential in the sport.. but I always thought other drivers/owners didn't really care for him. That's just the vibe I've got since he's been in NASCAR. But what team do you think would be looking @ AJ and where do you think he would best fit in? RCR has been pondering a 4th car.. You never know whats going on @ Gillette-Evernham.. Yates Racing has some decisions to make.. Robby Gordon wants a 2nd car.. Who do you think is looking @ signing the youngster from Cali?

Here's my take on things:

1) Hendrick - Full
2) Roush - Full
3) Gibbs - Will probably start 4th team in '09 with Joey Logano.
4) Childress - Dabbled with 4th team idea, but said he could not get the "right situation" together in time for next year.
5) DEI - Should be full. Stated they would use Regan Smith in the 01 car next year, but have not heard of a sponsor yet.
6) Ganassi - Possible. Allmendinger has been running the 42 Busch car with favorable results. Ganassi seems to be betting the house on former open-wheel stars. Not sure if Chip would start a 4th team or drop Sorenson.
7) Penske - Also possible. Planned to use Hornish next year in Cup, but he doesn't appear ready. Would like to start a 3rd team sooner rather than later.
8) Gillett-Evernham - Not likely, unless they start a 4th team.
9) Waltrip - Needs driver for the 00 after Reutimann moves to the 44, but why would Allmendinger switch to another struggling Toyota team?
10) Bill Davis Racing - Full. Blaney and Villeneuve fill the two Cup rides. 3rd team is unlikely in 2008.
11) Hall of Fame Racing - Possible. A.J. is a good candidate if they are looking to start a second team.
12) Petty - Possible. Kyle will probably retire soon.
13) Yates - Possible. No clue what Yates' plans are for 2008 after losing Rudd and both sponsors - M&Ms and Snickers.
14) Wood Bros - Possible, though they seem to favor veterans that can keep the car in the Top 35.
15) Hass-CNC - Full (probably). Mayfield and Riggs have signed for the two current rides.
16) Robby Gordon Motorsports - Possible. Robby wants to expand to 2nd team next year, though Sauter is rumored.

The other owners are probably seeing that when AJ's in good equipment, he's pretty competitive. AJ was driving the #42 for Ganassi in the Busch Series a few weeks ago and he ran pretty strong.

Also Mark Martin said over the past couple weeks that AJ has a lot of talent, people listen to Mark Martin. Thats probably what kicked all this in gear.

He has improved this yr and does have great potential, I saw his interview on Wind Tunnel a couple weeks ago he is determined.. He could be a great addition to Gillette Everham, or Roush or RCR... He has grown out of the nickname I gave him earlier of Wallmendinger, and turning into a driver to contend with down the road..With Toyota???
He is a great fit for Red Bull, but in a Toyota, I think he needs to move on...Not to sure about the Roush thing with what is going on with that soap opera now and who is going to stay or leave there, since A.J. said on Wind Tunnel he is bringing Sexy Back....don't think Cousin Carl would like that.. This kid is determined...and I promise not to call you Wallmendinger anymore...

I could see AJ fitting in well at RCR. I think the right equipment and a good team would really give him a chance to shine.

AJ should go to RCR, if possible. He's a great talent, and has tons of potential. He's already outperformed his teammate, Vickers... but I guess that's not really all that hard to do. Vickers stinks!

There may be a set with Roush opening up, if things don't get straightened out. I think he might be a good fit with DEI.
