USe Duncan Hines German Chocoalte Cake mix. Sub. equivalent amount of the water for 1 bottle of red food coloring (check label to see if ti's 1 or 2 oz... can't recall right now). Don't overbeat! Mix just until all is moistened. Don't overbake. Cool on a clean dish or tea towel (that you won't mind getting red stains on). Frost when completly cool.

Try a bit of sour cream. Several things work, but most of the time you just have to experiment to see what you like taste wise. One precaution. When adding extras to a cake mix, do so in small quanities. If you make your cake too moist, it can stick to the pan or even cause the cake to fall.

I'm not much of a baker but I've heard of people that add applesauce to moisten cakes.

A little oil is what I do, if it calls for oil already just add a little extra.

I have always used milk (whole if you have it) instead of water and use REAL butter instead of the oil it calls for.
