In a pinch these will do. But do doctor it up with meat, onions, and mushroom.

NO! Ragu is very watery and tastless. The two best Spaghetti sauces of all time are Prego and Barilla. Try Prego's Tomato Basil or Barilla's Roasted Garlic!

Always better to make your own...... try this.
Dean’s Spaghetti Sauce
2 - 28 ounce cans tomato puree
2 - 18 ounce cans tomato paste
32 ounces water (approximately, add more or less to your thickness preference)
2 tbls minced garlic
2-3 bay leaves
1 tbls dried basil
1 tbls dried parsley
1 tbls dried oregano
¼ tsp dried thyme
¼ tsp dried sage
Mix all ingredients in a 5 quart Dutch oven; bring to a boil, stirring constantly. Reduce heat, cover and simmer over very low heat several hours for flavors to meld, stirring occasionally. Do not let it boil too rapidly. Since tomato products seem to vary in sweetness, a couple teaspoons of sugar can be added if a little extra sweetness is desired.

"Really Good" is a subjective term that depends on what each individual grew up with and is used to.
I grew up in an Italian household where Ragu sauce was considered in the same category as paint thinner.
Other people swear by it.

It depends on how you like your sauce. If you like it thin, use Ragu, and if you like it thick, use Prego.. Personally I like to make my own sauce, but in a pinch I go with Prego chunky garden. It has chunks of veggies in it and its really good with some parmesean on top.

I usually make my own sauce, but in a pinch I actually prefer Prego, but I also doctor the sauce up with meat or more veggies. I don't eat it straight out of the jar.

I happen to like Ragu. I guess it all depends on your taste. You could try making your own. Get a few cans of tomato paste. I like to use peppers and onions too. You just mix the paste with water to suit your thickness, a little oil and season to your liking. You can use Oregano, salt, pepper, garlic salt...etc.

I get the kind with less salt or sugar. I usually doctor them up with my own spices, veggies and meat.
I would never just use the jarred sauce over pasta without some doctoring.

NO. You can do MUCH better by following a recipe and adjusting it to your taste. Try www.kraftfoods.com or just use your fav search engine for spaghetti sauce recipes.

They're o.k., better than Prego (what isn't?), but if I use a store bought sauce, I usually use Hunt's.
