Fish on Fridays arose as a tradition of the Roman Church and has no direct support in the Protestant Bible. It is usually incorporated into lent but some adherents stick to it all year round. The Roman church has never required members to eat fish on Fridays (in Lent or otherwise) but has considered it a principle of fasting and abstinence that, as a part of lent some activity should be given up eg. meat, and not necessarily replacing it with something else. Historians also agree that the fish ranks first among symbols employed among the early Christians. They used the five letters in the Greek word for fish – ichthus – to form a memorable anagram which served as a clandestine declaration of the faith [Iesous Christos Theou Yios Soter (Jesus Christ, Son of God, Savior). In addition the baptismal font in Latin was called piscina (the fishpond) and the converts pisciculi (little fishes). The abstinence, that is, the foregoing of meat, was a practice known since the early days of the Church, and Christians have always comemorated Friday as a day on which Jesus died. The Didache, Tertullian and Clement of Alexandria make mention of it.
Pope Nicholas I (858-867) made fasting from meat obligatory for the faithful.

If she isn't Catholic then I can't imagine why but fish on a Friday is not a Catholic thing it is in the Bible not to eat meat on Fridays so that technically means no Jew or Christian, even Muslim should eat meat on Fridays.

It's a long time since Catholics had to eat fish on Friday - so what's wrong with having fish on Friday ? If you don't like fish say so - or cook her a meal yourself with steak!

naw, this is a lie---Catholics are only obliged to eat fish on Fridays during Lent. The rest of the year they MAY continue this practice or they may do some other thing that relates to Penance

Fish is good for you. And it's not "Catholic food" -- people in almost every culture eat it.
Not sure what the problem is?

hat makes food catholic???? Food is food. Some religions eat certain foods on certain days, but that doesn't mean that that food is for that religion only. If you don't like it cook for yourself then.
Why do you have to be so ungrateful????
