Eating once a day is an incredibly stupid diet plan. Sorry, but it is.

Eat 5-6 small meals a day (or 3 meals and 3 snacks) but make sure your caloric intake is lower, perhaps 500-700 calories lower than the amount of calories you need in a day to maintain your weight.

you should definitely eat more than once per day. you can jump start your metabolism by eating more, as long as you eat the right foods. Buy "The Eat Clean Diet" book by Tosca Reno. This is a great lifestyle plan that isn't really a diet at all. It's about eating healthier and living a healthier lifestyle. You will have tons of energy, but be prepared to be very thirsty, because your body temperature goes up with your metabolism burning all those calories!! Forget that hydroxycut stuff!! You don't need it. Spend your money on healthy food and supplements that can help you feel great about yourself, not just jittery.

I used to think eating once a day worked too, and it will eventually, but the others are correct about eating several very small meals keeps the metabolism going and burns more calories.

I would like to lose 20 pounds over the weekend!

You will actually lose weight quicker if you eat smaller portions 5-6 times a day. The reason being when you eat only once it slows down your metabolism. A healthy goal is to say 1.5 lbs a week. So 20/1.5 = about 14 weeks.

if anything your going to do the opposite. whilst you may lose all that weight in x amount of time, your metabolism is going to slow down and become accostomed to that amount of calories therefore when u reach your goal and you begin to consume your usual amount, you will put the weight on so fast and prob even more so. this is why yo-yo dieters go back and forth. they sucumb to a restrictive diet then fall off the wagon and gain even more. your best option is a healthy eating plan. remember, energy in energy out, so by eating 3 balanced meals a day and still burn more, you keep cravings at bay and have a more sustainable method

Not a terrific idea, because one large meal mostly turns to fat, then you're hungry for the other 23 hours.

Losing weight of course depends on how MUCH you eat, versus how much you need to fuel your day. Its entirely possible to gain weight eating only one meal per day.

very long time. it's better to eat several small meals each day to keep your metabolism up. you can't get all the necessary nutrients in one meal and our bodies aren't made to only eat once a day.

You might gain weight that way- you're body will go into starvation mode and start to stock up on stored fat.
