Hon, please take the help you are offered, and remember -- mental health professionals are concerned about your well-being, and so is your dad. They are all there to help you.
I think the first thing we might try to realize is that we have to be OPEN to receiving help... just like teachers in school, the help of a therapist works when we DO THE WORK it takes to start feeling better.
Your cutting issues and depression could be the result of some distress you suffered in your life which has not been dealt with. It's perfectly OK to talk to the therapist and be honest about your feelings and problems. That's what they are there for -- your best interests.
You are NOT alone in your feelings or problems. There are thousands upon thousands of us who have needed help before, including me.
I care, and i hope that you will be open to help...please take care of YOU. that's so important right now. hugs

It could be a number of things that you are feeling. It all could be everything coming at you at once. Counselors are a good way, but there is no way for others to understand you like you understand yourself. If you are cutting yourself and doing other things then you need to stop and sit and think about what is causing this pain. Only when you understand yourself will you be able to help yourself. It will take time, but you will be better for it. When you have figured out your problems, then sort them out in the order of importance. I know this may seem like a long list, but do not let it overwhelm you. Then try and take on one at a time. Again it will take time, and some problems won't go away for a while, but know that they will as long as you work on it.

YOU NEED TO GO TO THE DOCTOR! Cutting yourself is beyond what normal stress and depression is. This will NOT take care of itself, and is more than just a phase.
Until you get to go to the doctor try getting more exercise, run off your anger and hurt, it does work wonders but in your case it is not enough. You should limit your alone time. Look up the phone number to your local suicide prevention hot line and keep it on you (even if you are not currently thinking about suicide)
If your father can not afford a doctor try a local church, (if you are not familiar with any pastors in your area invite someone you trust to tag along), or contact your local department of social services they can help you.

Teenage years are tough. Don't be ashamed to admit that you need help. Sounds like depression, caused by the stress of life. It's better to ask for help than to suffer alone. You'll be thankful in the long run. Open up to your parents and let them know how you're feeling. No one can help you if you don't take the first step. Good luck, and hang in there!!

It sounds like both. You need to be honest with your parents about how you are feeling....that is the only way you are going to get help. Seeing a counselor is not a bad idea. There has to be a reason you are feeling this way and speaking with a counselor can help get down to the cause.

You are definitely showing signs of depression, especially if you are self harming by cutting.
Please do not fault your teacher for contacting your Dad. She obviously cares about you and wants you to receive the help you need.
I'm the mom of a teen that was a cutter and suffers from depression.
