For example, I've heard before that if someone smells (breathe/ body odor) of nail plish remover they may have diabetes; are there any others?? Perhaps of a garlic-y/ onion-y sent?? And no, not after you eat garlic or onions...this is for real.

OK...not fruity; this is more like garlic and onions and celery or something...
It may not have anything to do with diabetes.

OK...here is some more details (thanks to those who have responded so far).
I've had a change in the way my under arms and breath smells. It never used to be bad...just normal...then it started to smell to me like a mix of garlic, celery, onions...I've tried switching deodarants/antiperperants with no change. I have also noticed this almost exact smell eminate from some one else, but have been too worried about embarrassing them to ask. Maybe I will now...I really hope someone has some insight...no other medical sites of looked on have any thing for changes in body odor....

If you smell a fruity breath on someone, it generally means they are going into DKA - where the blood sugar is entirely too high. The patient usually will not smell this. Only those around them.
