Jesus said this: "Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends." (John 15:3)
As to whether the person who died saving his friends knows Jesus as Savior and Lord is what determines his place in heaven or not. (John 14:6)

No. Suicide implies that your direct intention was to kill youself. In other words, that your own death was the desired outcome. In the case you describe, your only intention would be to save others, and your death would be the unintended and undesired but unavoidable consequence of your heroic act.

No I dont think this is suicide. Its chivalry - without you noticing it as chivalrous. Its this life-in-a-second-to break- without considering the consequences. Its the rush of offering your own life, without ponderng on it, its a human trait that shines when your bounded by fate, that all you have to do is ACT UPON IT.

To be suicide , the person must have the desire to die . In the above case the desire was to save others , not simply to die .

It is a sacrifice that preserves other life. Likewise, the idea that suicides are necessarily damned is flawed, because it presumes that the suicide is sane enough to be held responsible.
