Especially those same people who took their children to see the Chronicles of Narnia. Will you take them to see "The Golden Compass" to get both sides of the story?

Or should children only be exposed to philosophical beliefs with which their parents agree?

Atheists, feel free to respond too.

I don't have kids. But I'll go see it myself.

I love these books, mainly because I like well-written fantasy and they qualify. I also found them incredibly moving.

If I had kids, I'd give them these books to read along with the Chronicles of Narnia and other of my favorite children's fantasy.

As a Christian, I hope to raise my kids to think for themselves and feel free to question and search and learn. As a parent, I will teach them and expose them to different things. When they are young, they may be more easily confused, so I will raise them up with my beliefs. Once they are older and able to see things from different perspectives, I would LOVE to watch Narnia, The golden Compass, The Da Vinci Code and the like so that I can be a part of the searching and growing and learning process.

My kids are still infants, so it's an irrelevant question for my kids (I won't take them to ANY movie--they won't sit still!!), but once they are older, I am looking forward to watching these movies with them and having wonderful discussions!

nicely, the books have been written with the explicit objective of being an atheist's reaction to Narnia, and has as one in all its critical tenets that faith, and particularly Christianity, is evil and undesirable. So, i think of they might desire to react in a matching way as every physique does while instructed that their ideals are incorrect. regrettably, it may help if the books or the action picture have been any good. Golden Compass itself became surprisingly first rate, however the different 2 books rather fell off of a cliff in terms of storytelling and typical high quality, and stepped it up plenty in the 'underaged young ones having intercourse by way of fact they might' branch, that's continuously something super that we choose our young ones to study.

My prediction is that Christians who are sooooo enraged at the very thought that this movie has been made will be counterproductive with their protests, and will make 'The Golden Compass' the #1 movie in America the first two weeks of its release.

Add this question to your personal watchlist, and let's see if I'm wrong.

The first I knew that this movie was "anti-christian" was from a question that Rachel asked.

My kids are older and rarely go out with me but I am definitely going to see it. I am sure my son that is wiccan plans to see it. Wouldn't surprise me if my daughter sees it. My other son is more into action/fighting/gangsta movies and probably won't go.

Can't wait.

No, our family will not be going to see this... I am not going to be outside of the movie theater with picket signs either... We just try to stick to watching things that follow our morals.
