I'm assuming your in school - and people of that age have nothing better to do than talk about everyone else behind their backs.

The best thing to do is not give in to their tauting. If you hear someone say something about you - laugh it off. Or you could really throw them for a loop & be like "Ohh yeah - and it was so much fun!" LOL If you give them anger & hostility they will continue to trash you - because they thrive on that negativity.

You could always try a comeback something like "It's unfortunate that you have such pathetic, boring lives, that you spend all day obsessing about what I've done! But I'm glad to know you're so interested in my life!!" and give them a big smile & walk away!

Dress conservatively. Wearing revealing clothing would only help confirm rumors in other people's minds. If some one says something to you, tell them that it's really sad that they would make suck a big deal out of a rumer. It's not like YOU started the rumer. How do they know if it's even true?
The rumors will probably take a while to stop. Every one goes through some sort of crisis dealing with rumors in their life. You just have to realize that other people don't know what they're talking about. Try not to let what they're saying hurt you.

Honestly?
I would say you can't, really. People will always talk.
The best you can do is ignore them, or act like they're retarded for bringing up something from so long ago.
Rest assured that it will eventually stop.
When I was 16 my ex decided to spread some nasty lies about how far we'd gone, and for the next couple of months nobody really knew what to think of me. But whenever someone brought it up I'd give them a weird look as if I genuinely had no clue what they were on about...like I hadn't already heard the same thing ten times that day.
Eventually, some new gossip hit the kids and they forgot all about me.

So only time can really fix that, and the people whose opinions you truly care about should be the ones who will listen to what you have to say anyway.

Join a school group and make friends with people who will reverse the rumors. School newspaper, photography, artsy stuff, anything cultural. Change your dress style and hair style to something more mature. No tight jeans! Hide your boobs. I'll bet they're enormous and that could be a reason too! They're jealous! No lipstick or heavy eye shadow. Try to look non-sexy, but mature at the same time. Try dress slacks and a girls dress shirt (not tucked in) and mature shoes. Get an over the shoulder knapsack and stop carrying around your pocketbook. Try to look metrosexual.

No matter what you do, you won't change the way people think. He shouldn't have been going around talking about personal things that went on between the 2 of you. Some guys just don't respect the no kiss and tell policy. If someone approaches you about the subject, just set them straight. If they still don't believe you, then just try to ignore it. It's hard I know, i've been there. Sooner or later there will be more interesting things for these people to gossip about. Good luck!

I'm so sorry! I had a similar experience in college. My roommate (who later became a great friend) was very sexually active with a lot of people. While I didn't approve of her behavior, I found her to be a great friend to me. Rumor spread that I was like her because I hung out with her a lot. I hear all kinds of rumors about myself that weren't true, but I learned to laugh about it. I later learned that some of the people that were spreading rumors about me were actually doing things that were even worse! Life is too short to worry about what everyone else thinks. Just have fun!

Stuff happens, especially when you do stuff with immature irresponsible morons who could care less how much damage they do with their big mouths.

Immature irresponsible kids talk - alot - they don't CARE what you think or how you feel - what is done is done, and thinking there is any way you can CHANGE any ones picture of you is a big waste of time. When and if they choose to grow up, it will not be because of anything you did or said. You really have to just consider the source and live your life regardless of any of them.

No doubt I was talked behind my back when I was a teen, and maybe people still do. I did not care then, and I do not care now. I feel sorry for people who have to talk crap about others, because it shows how petty, shallow, and immature they really are.

The sad part is people believe what they first hear. Don't even let it get to you. As you will see later in life it doesn't matter what people think of you. If you aren't a hoe then nothing to worry about. You could always spread a rumor at how lousy he was in bed to and that would hurt him with the girls. Even if it isn't true it still has an impact.

I'm sorry to say this but you can't stop people from talking about you. The only thing you can do is ignore them b/c the more you deny these rumors, the more people will think that they are true. I know it's tough, but sooner or later, they'll move on to gossiping about someone else. Just remember this - the next time you go to talk about someone behind their back, you know how bad it feels to be talked about.

Honey that's life, while it's unfair, it's reality and some ppl will never grow up enough to realize that spreading rumors is lame. Don't stoop to their low level of immaturity, and ignore them, pay attention to what you need to in school. Just hold ur head high, stop being Ms. Promiscuous and prove em' wrong. They'll find something or someone new to slander.
