Because people in general need something to "believe" in.
That is why religion is so popular, it is because peoples belief needed to be fulfilled and religion came and did exactly that.

Why don't you believe in these things? Does there have to be a logical answer for anything? If a man heals himself from a terminal illness through faith of God, you know the first thing an atheist would say? "He was misdiagnosed." The main reason why I'm Christian is because miracles are everday occurences, but to an atheist, a miracle usually does not exist within his/her perspective.

If you don't believe in spirits (also known as ghosts) then why do you believe in the afterlife. Are you planning on bringing your body to heaven....? An why pray to the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost?
People have different interpretations of what a ghost is. A ghost is not a spook! lol

The rate is high because these things are real and exist. People who can communicate with different levels of matter are finally speaking out without fear. All the TV shows, both fiction and nonfiction, on at the moment help.

Believing in the supernatural is the foundation of religion. It seems pretty obvious that anyone who is religious is also superstitious and believe in ghosts.

Superstitions are passed down from mother to child in most cases . Many , like Zodiac and star gazing are the result of weak minds .
Religious superstitions come from he fear of what common sense tells us will happen .
No , I personally believe only in nature. I , you , and everybody are all part of nature , just as all living things are , both animal and vegetable .

um, they just always have been. These concepts and ideas have been passed down from before traditional science, and since science has not been able to debunk them, they still remain in people's beliefs.

1.) People are ignorant and superstitious.
2.) People WANT to believe.
3.) Human beings have a hard-wired instinct to assign intent, and even consciousness, to random events and inanimate objects. Richard Dawkins devotes almost a whole chapter to it in "The God Delusion".
