Does it make wierd sounds? If it does - something is wrong with mechanism or lens (may be it's dirty). If it doesn't (at all) - motor of the disc is dead or disconnected from power supply. It's not expensive to repair PS2 now, but if I were you, I would save money for NTSC PS3 60GB - it perfectly plays old PS2 games and you can enjoy next-gen games.

I had this problem with the old ps2 but nit the slimline one. On mine all those little dots started flying atround on the home screen like they do, i put the game in but it never worked. Im not sure but I'd just take it to someone or there are a few good websites with people who have had the same problem and tell you how to fix it yourself. it might save buying a new one!

It sounds like the disk mechanism has broke.
Or the laser has broke.
If its under warrantee then send it back to sony, details on their website. Otherwise, save up for a Ps3
