It is our first time there. We were thinking of going the weekend after new years, friday to Sunday night. Do we need anything else than passports to get into the country?
Any websites or tips I can get would be a plus, thank you!

it depends on what part of the country you're going to be visiting. Canada is huge and weather varies a whole lot from coast to coast.
getting into Canada with a valid ID is not a problem and you won't need a passport until summer 2008. i have heard of Americans having a lot of problems going back to the US at customs without a valid US passport.
that time of the year you will need a coat no matter what part you visit but temperatures can and will change in the blink of an eye.
plan to layer your clothing so you can take some off or put some on and bring good footwear.
have fun and enjoy.

passports will get you in....but why canada? the exchange rate is to the point where it's more expensive to travel there then it would be to a city in the US.
That being said...I always liked Vancouver and the gaslight district. Calgary is cool as well. And if you're looking to ski I would recommend Red Mountain. Wasn't a big fan of Victoria...it was nice but kind of blah.

Never, ever, mention the state of Texas. We take a ski holiday in Canada every year and it's beautiful and the people are lovely (just never mention Texas or Bush).

If you are from the US. you don't need passports, but you do need indentification, Take a picture ID. Your birth cirtificate, and prepare to hove your car searched. When I went there, they where very nice and friendly, not to the truck ahead of us, but there was no hassle getting in to the country. It is beautiful, and I meet some very nice people from all over the world.

Where in Canada are you guys going?? You don't need your passport until July08...but if you have one bring it. If not you need to bring significant id. bring your license and birth certificate if possible. or something else that proves your an American citizen. have fun...
the dollar is almost even. 1 US dollar is equal to 1.05/1.10 CAN dollars.

Plan on spending more money for goods and services. The dollar is down against the canadian dollar. So, your $1 US will probably get you 75cents to 50cents in Canada. Your big mac at McDonalds will cost you $5.

Unless you're going skiing or something winter related, I would stay away. It is just way too cold up there. Who goes to Canada anyways?

Don't forget, you have to pay in Canadian Dollars! Since you didn't let us in on your destination, it's hard to make recommendations.
