Well, people are certainly becoming more and more like animals. I believe Paul had something to say about this in the 1st chapter of the book of Romans (link below).

Our soul is like a mirror the purpose of which is to reflect the attributes of God, including justice, kindness, sincerity, love and many other noble qualities. When the mirror of our soul becomes covered with the dross of the world, and we become captives of the world of nature and materialism, the qualities of the soul cannot shine and radiate and it eventually atrophies.
