If there really were a "Satan" I really don't think he would give a ratsass what we do. People are people, and don't need "Satan" to convince them to be mean to others, the followers of the Christian and Muslim religions can do a pretty good job of that all by themselves. They aren't all bad, but quite a few ignore verses that call for letting God be the judge of a person's soul and actions (such as when Jesus told the mob that if they want to follow scripture and stone a woman caught adultering, the one who hasn't sinned should be the one to throw the first stone).

They love to bring that up when it's THEIR actions in question, or their loved ones, but they don't make that a life practice. They constantly tell others that homosexuality is wrong, abortion is wrong, being an atheist is wrong, believing in anything other than their religion is wrong, and they make efforts to try to prevent others from exercising the free-will that they say God gave them.

They do these things in the names of their gods. Satan could just sit back and watch the show because if he's real, he already knows about the soul trap built in to those religions. Christians often forget that if you have committed one sin, you are guilty of them all. Judging others is a sin, even if only in their thoughts. Christians, please read the second chapter of James. Here's a link you can use to read it right now http://bibleresources.bible.com/passagesearchresults.php?passage1=James+2&version=9 and you can even change the bible version to compare it to your favorite non-KJV bible.

The bottom line is that if Christians believe the entire bible is true, then they damn themselves with their judgemental attitudes. Satan doesn't need to do a thing. Christians will damn themselves in mass numbers simply by trying to impose what they think is God's will on everyone else, instead of just living their own lives as they believe their god would want them to.

Jesus calls those people hypocrites, telling them to remove the plank from their own eyes before bothering with the speck in someone else's. Again, they choose not to listen to this, they choose to tell everyone else how wrong everyone else is, but figure they're okay because they believe in the right god so they'll have a place in heaven. Theoretically, Satan doesn't have to do a thing but sit back and watch the souls come streaming in.

Christians, prove this verse is wrong: http://bibleresources.bible.com/keywordsearchresults.php?keyword=one+guilty+of+all&multiplemethod=all&version1=9&numpageresults=25&sortorder=bookorder

Psalms 27:11 Satan wants to prove to God that we do not love him and when we are under pressure and opposition we will turn our backs on God.

He only wants to prove to God that people only love themselves and the temporary pleasure of this world and are not willing to make adjustments in their life to meet God's standards.

He doesn't. Unless, of course, you are a Christian that actively lives a Godly life and a life of witness to Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord...then he does care. Why? Because had his opportunity to live in paradise and got greedy and was kicked out of heaven. Now, he wants all of us to join him so he will try to stop or discredit any Christ-like Christian.

Considering that he wants to be worshipped (and few people will deliberately turn to worshipping him), he'll be satisfied with turning people away from serving God.

Good question... and to add to that... why do fundementalists?
Even better question yet... why are fundementalists and satan so similar?

By their fruits ye shall know them?

He is still trying to replace God in our hearts. And his methods haven't changed much. He still does it by lying.
And he is very good at it.

Because he wants to prove to God that we really don't love God and that we just want what God has to offer.
Meaning that we are just after what God could gives us.

He wants us to be as miserable as he is, so he will do all he can to accomplish that. In the end that is his goal. He will build you up only to tear you down even harder.
