You can go to the office of records for your area, and they can give you the correct form to fill out and fix it!

Talk to the hospital and/or county department where it is on file and ask about the process for amending it. That is an official record that will follow her and identify her for the rest of her life. There's a process for fixing those kinds of errors. The sooner you get it done, the better because if her Social Security information is misspelled, then she could be stuck with it (or have to go through A LOT more hassle).

Well, my uncle went through his whole life with a middle name of Tomas, because the midwife misspelled Thomas!

You need to get in touch with the agency that issues the birth certificate and have it fixed. It's not hard, or, at least, it didn't used to be hard. With my first child, the woman on the phone didn't understand why I cared that the time of birth was wrong, but she did get it fixed and re-issued.

Hmm...call the courthouse and ask.

She may just have to go through life with that quirky mistake.

My dad's BC has one name, but after he was born, they decided to change the name, so his certificate has the original name just crossed out with the new name written in above it!

My mom's BC has her middle name as "Michael". She suspects that it was meant to be "Michelle" but as she was adopted, there's no way to know for sure.

whats up with husbands doing that, my husband did it too. we had to contact the department that does the birth certificates and they told us we had to get a notorized statement with both our signatures, and send it to them with a 45 dollar fee. then they will send you another one in the mail. it doesnt take long.
