Heck no!
...but then I don't agree with legislation against gay marriage or, in fact, any legislation related to marriage. It actually makes me sad and sometimes even angry when I see so many Christians that seem to miss the basic points Jesus made about "the law". They seem to think (probably because they just don't like some of the OT laws) that the message he gave us was that the OT laws were no longer valid. So they pick up on the few laws he mentioned specifically, and then make the EXACT same mistake he warned us about!
In my opinion, Jesus did NOT tell us that God's laws (OT) were invalid...instead, he told us that we had NO business trying to enforce those laws...that's God's job! Our job is to love God and to love each other...we are instructed to let God worry about everything else including the people that don't follow those laws.
I'm not suggesting we should abolish all laws...certainly the law of the land has a vaild role of protecting us from other people...it should protect society from people who violate the rights of others (e.g., murder, stealing, fraud). However, legislating individual morality is a stupid idea that can't possibly have the desired result...and God knows that! I may think that sex outside of a committed marriage is wrong, but in no way does it violate my right or the rights of anyone else! I say, let God handle it.

I can't remember any direct quotes but in the Bible one of the commandments is to, Refrain from adulteries. Which includes sex before marriage. The Bible doesn't exactly say any consequences but i'm sure that it will mess up any relationships you have down the road. Because of God's mercy and grace if you ask for forgiveness you are forgiven so no, you wouldn't go to hell because of sexual impurities.

I think my faith just went down a few levels because of your statement (Sarcasm). But anyways, That whole " hauled away in police cuffs" is out of line and not necessary. God gave man freewill did he not? You choose. But theres a end result for that choice. I personally believe people shouldnt have sex before marriage, as it would stop such things as Aids, HIV and STDs. I know this sounds religious to you, but it would seriously help mankind. A child can actually know who his father or mother is instead of being neglected like I've seen. Its your choice. but the bible said " The gospel is foolishness to those who are perishing".

Good point, Robert M. Sometimes I wonder how many people have conveniently forgotten that there is supposed to be separation between Church and State or even that the people of the United States are allowed to have freedom of and even from religion. Not everyone will choose to follow a religion or the tenants of a religion. People should be free to live their lives.

How many of you that answered this would be brave enough to ask their parents if they had sex before marriage? Come to think of it, I don't remeber seeing a verse in Genisis about Adam marrying Eve? And with that, Since it was only Adam and Eve, that brings up incest, and their is a biblical law that forbade that. What a crazy world christians live in..
Parents need to step up and TEACH their children, more and more, we are allowing the government to do it for us.

Sin is sin rather it is sex before marriage, gay relationship, murder, etc... I don't judge anyone.I do believe if you are a true Christian you should stand by your beliefs. If you are a believer or a non-believer that's find. I know everyone will face the truth when it's time. I am a believer in Christ.

If it were possible to do that, I wonder how many tens of thousands less people would be dying of aids right now, or suffering from venereal diseases, or being single teenage moms living on wellfare. It's not that we're killjoys. It's that if God's way were voluntarily followed there would be much less suffering and death due to being irresponsible about sex. You can't deny the number of people dying out there or suffering as a direct result of their or their partner's sexual conduct.

Why are you lumping all Americans into one category and one belief system?
Is it because your mind can't stretch itself enough to comprehend that not all Americans are Bible thumping hypocrites like our so called "president"?
If you had any brains at all you'd realize that America is a big country with a lot of people and those people come from all walks of life, not just Christianity.

I am a christian but come on this isn't a theocracy. Why stop there let's legislate against lying (sarcasm--like any politician would vote for that). I'm not into any moral based--not safety or property related crime legislation (i.e., murder, theft, rape, etc). I also think passing laws against non-dangerous drugs is silly (i.e., without naming them, shall we just say the doorway drug to doritos for example).

No, people are free to do what they want. But we what we should legislate is that moral people should not have to pay for immoral people's mistakes. When immoral people have children out of wedlock, kids they can't afford, and when they get diseases, then the rest of society should not have money taken from their earnings and given to losers.
