We have just purchased a puppy in July, now a friend is giving a 1 yr old puppy away. he is looking for a suitable place for the puppy (of course). he asked us....should we keep her too....then i will have two puppies running around...is it hard?? she is not spayed and no paper work, so she has to get shots all over again???

I would first have your friend bring his pooch over and carefully see if they get along. His is no longer a "puppy" and may not like the little one.
If all goes well there, get her med. records, ask if she's housebroken (BIGGIE), and if she has any special needs.
Dogs are like children. They need lots of attention and care. They can also be expensive. If you can afford to properly care for two and have the time, room and patience, you will have wonderful companions for life and they will have each other.

a puppy is a puppy till it is about full grown at the age of 2. Yes having 2 CAN be hard and requires a lot of patience.Are they the same breed? are they the same sex? if it is 1 yr old and HAS had any shots, I would venture to guess it has had its rabies 1 year at about 6 mos at least. I would also venture to guess it has it's 3 series of shots as well (distemper and a dewormer is protocol with rabies at about 6 mos.). Yes you SHOULD have her spayed. Those who do not have their dogs spayed or neutered risk the chance (GREAT CHANCE) of the dog eventually getting cancer later on. You have to ask yourself if you are up to the task and can afford yearly check ups and the extra cost of food for having 2.

Two puppies is comparable to having two toddlers. If she has no shot record then yes she needs the shot. Get her spayed, make sure that both of them are "fixed". Be prepared for squabbles. Basically, they'll wear each other out quite frequently however they may decide to play in the middle of the night. There will be the occasional squabble over toys, attention or the food dish. Training can be more difficult, because they'll distract each other. But if you pull it all off, it's a great experience.

I did this, it wasnt easy, but I felt like a much better person for it. Ask your friend if she had any shots yet. If she did her vet can fax her records to your family vet. If the cost of spaying is too hard, there are low cost programs out there that can help you out. If you are consistent with the both of them, and train them well things will get much easier as they are older. I am hoping your friend already working on house training her, if so that makes things much easier. Have a crate for both of them, so if things get too chaotic, they have a place to be put in for quiet time. I still have two dogs under the age of one, and it isnt as nearly crazy as people would think. Once they were house trained, it only go easier from there. Good luck. Make sure you can afford her though with food, and general vet exams.

Well really the choice is up to you. Shots, paperwork and such really is a lot of money and consider the vet's bills also. But also take into consideration that your puppy won't get lonely and it will have a play mate. I always it is easier to have two dogs at the same time. SO my recommendation is yes as long as you have the money to take care of the new puppy and yours. Hope this helps

If you think you have the energy, the budget and specially time and love for both of them then why not. Yes you will need to invest into spaying her and updating her shots. Will the 2 puppy grow to be the same size? You have to think long term.

Some people like having two puppies, some people do not. Personaly, I will never have one puppy so I can't advise you on that issue.
If this is a friend you trust when he says 'she has all her shots' then you don't need to get them all done all over. I would advise getting the rabies one again simply because it is required by law and you really should always have proof of that one being up to date.
If, however, this is a friend who you don't really trust to have gotten the dog all of it's shots then yes, get them again.

I would, if the puppy got along with the dog I already have! They could grow up to be, best of friends! Sometimes, having two dogs is easier than having 1, because they can occupy each other! They don't get lonely easy, and you are already walking one, you can just walk them both at the same time!!!! Good Luck, I hope you have a great time with your babies!!!!!

Two puppies is more than most people can handle. They might enjoy each other's company but it could drive you crazy. And if the second one isn't fixed as I am assuming yours is, that causes additional problems. I would pass.

If you have to ask, then you're probably not ready for the stress of another puppy. Give the one you have all the love and attention you have.
