I like sweet and firm apples so I like Fuji apples. The other apples (Red Delisious, Green Delicious, Granny Smith) are too mealy or tart.

not-quite-ripe Golden Delicious.
I used to go with my family to an old orchard on an abandoned farm as a kid and we would pick apples... yup, in those days we hunted/gathered. I hadn't had a apple like that for over 30 years, when i picked up a bag of under-sized Golden Delicious and bit into one. Even before it made it to my mouth, the smell of the apple took me back to when i was about 10.
mmmmmm....

I prefer crisp, tart apples. So I think Macs (for example) are awful.
I like Cortland's, Northern Spys, Empires, Granny Smith, etc.

This could depend on where you are, but if your in UK try Jazz, Jupiter (if you can find them), Russet. Best thing is look out for an Apple Fair in your area, usually in October, and go along and try some.

Honeycrisp Apple -It was named that after the hybrid discovery by the University of Minnesota. It tastes wonderful.

I have to agree with honey crisp, they are simply the best apple I've eaten. I like granny smith too, but honey crisp, you should try one.
