I'm not mocking.

Dapper Napper's answer was the kind of one I was looking for.

The Bible (and other holy scripture) is one of my favorite books because it gives me insight and instruction into my own life. It's not fair to compare the Bible with a work written for entertainment because the Bible is more of a hybrid history book/textbook on how to live one's life. There is little titillation or suspense in revelation from Heaven. :-)

I get little free time to read or watch TV because of my business, calling, and family. When I do get to do leisure reading, my favorite authors are Hunter S. Thompson, Stephen Crane, Leo Tolstoy, Walt Whitman, Richard Bradford, Ralph Waldo Emerson, and John Steinbeck.

To be 100% honest, I do not have a favourite book.
Most of the time even if I really like a book, I remember the story too well to read it all over again.

The Bible is not an easy read, there are some 'heavy' parts. But the good thing about the Bible is that one can never finish reading it, like a novel. There's always a point you missed the first time round, there's always a point you noticed but will forget after a while. One can read the Bible over and over their entire lifetime and still learn something new each time.

That is such a funny question. The bible is owned by more people than any other book. So you can Mock it all you want to. Thats a fact. As far as spiritual knoledge it would def. be my favorite book. And yeah some books are easier to get into than the bible. Considered it is written a lot diff. than books that are printed nowadays.

Trollope is my favorite Victorian novelist. Dickens may be the greatest, but I find him too frantic. The Bible is full of great yarns, extraordinary poetry (in the Jacobean translation, at least), and moral lessons we would all do well to think upon. I don't however believe it is the word of god any more than Shakespeare's or John Steinbeck's works are.

I actually read James Clavell, Robert Ludlum, etc for leisure. The Bible is not entertainment. The Bible does not say we can not be entertained, it says do not use your liberty as a means for evil.

Correction, not means, but veil for evil, although not as a means would also be appropriate although give different meaning.

Some parts of the Bible are more interesting than others. The geneaolgies are not very interesting to me. I like science fiction and fantasy but not much else.

The Bible is my favorite book.......

And no.....it's not wrong to read others. I'm not much of a reader....never have been.

I'm the kind of guy who would much rather just go to Blockbuster and rent the video instead. Call me lazy but, I just can't get into books that well.
