My query is that it is on the back of religious dogma that society's have manufactured civilisation (I think) and it is civilisation in all its pretentiousness that led to the industrial revolution... and it is the IR that has led to global warming... so who is to blame! eg. should the Pope be sued.

And I expect religious people to say it is the individuals choice... Ironic hey! I am interested in a debate about climate change, not morals!

Which religion told us to exploit the given resources..., its humans who want to enjoy luxuries by exploiting them and Where did terms global warming , green house effect terms came from ....., Its only because we are cutting down all the trees in the forest and constructing some or other resorvoirs . We humans are not in harmony with the rest of the creation We are going beyond it. Who on earth are really following the religion. and finally i just want to say for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction we have done our actions and are still doing it on nature and nature is only reacting
The Creation was always meant to provide for humans and other creatures and it was designed to get recycled and be used again and again. but humans want every thing in no time and the pace at which we are exploiting nature is not matching with the pace at which nature comes back to its previous form( recycle)..... Materia;ists have not cared for this very basic problem which is posing us a very big treat.if we are stuibborn and insensitive towards something as basic as this then we should be prepared for the consequences... Following religion is following nature's plan.. to be closer to the creator try and understand His creation and use it but dont mess with it. Dont let the whole world fool you with what you need and what you dont...
Slightly, drifting away from this watch this video , maybe you will understand the economics all around the world and you will find a basic reason why the world is in a mess

I suggest you browse the topic of religious ethics and determine for yourself which religion is most likely to place themselves above the natural world.
There are lots of reasons to believe the Pope is insane other than GW: almost starting a religious war with Islam, calling all other forms of Christianity "false religions", protecting pedophiles and coming up with "The Ten Commandments of Driving" are some that come immediately to mind.
But you can't put everything on the back of religion. You have to look at the Big Three that no one talks about: Religion, Sex and Politics. All three are determining our future figuratively and literally.
Also browse Epigenetics; a relatively new science which is the study of how our present environment genetically affects our offspring. They have discovered some very interesting things about environmental genetic switches in twins and how many generations into the future will be affected.

I'm not interested in the blame game except as to identify how businesses and individuals and nations themselves have contributed and will contribute to the problem at hand, and how they will or will not step up and acknowledge and then address the issues involved. It's not Democrat vs Republican, Liberal vs Conservative, Christian et al vs agnostics and atheists, because we all share the same planet, and the planets' resources.
Don't sue Pope Bendedict, he's a bit ahead of the curve on this one. The Vatican recently added its voice to a rising chorus of warnings from churches around the world that climate change and abuse of the environment is against God's will, and that the one billion-strong Catholic church must become far greener.

No one religion is more at fault than another. Global warming is caused by anyone who has ever thrown trash in the street because they could not be bothered to find a barrel. I think people that carelessly littler and do what ever they want should be sued.

Athiest, Agnostic, Christian, Hindu, Buddhist - makes no differerce. We all utilise the resources that cause global warming apart from perhaps a few Buddhist monks, nuns, Yogi's and Yogini's who live in caves in the mountains.

What if it turns out that Jesus was the original environmentalist; who implored his followers to give up the trappings of wealth and return to a simpler way of life; who's message was subverted by the monotheists?

Monotheism. Did you know the first form of monotheism was the worship of the grain store in ancient Egypt, says it all really.
No time for the blame game though....

Yeah, sue the pope, you can find him in rome, doing what the Romans do.Reagan is another good bet, but he is dead..Personally I wote for Adolph Hitler, but he is broke, for the moment.
But really, of course, Karl Marx and das Kapital paid for it.

I have a friend who says, "The one thing God isn't making any more of is real estate".
I might add that given our ingenuity we have devised a way to create a whole wack of beach front property.
Surely God must be turning all shades of 'green' with envy.
