The tendency is toward self gratification and self preservation in the short term and forget the consequences. This turns out to generally be a very bad thing.

I believe that our natural tendency is toward good. But all the rules are out the window when it comes to self-preservation or defense. But I believe most humans are inherently good.

Having raised kids, I had to teach them to share, tell the truth, play nice, obey their parents, not steal, etc.
I never had to teach any of them to be selfish, lie, hit, disobey, or steal.
Wonder why that is, if the our natural tendency is not towards the bad?

We may try to be good. But there are times when we think bad things, aren’t there? And at times we do acts that are bad. The first man, Adam, willfully disobeyed God. What he did was very bad. As a result, we were all born imperfect. We are all children of Adam. That is one reason why people do bad things, even though they don’t want to be bad.
But some people do many bad things. They hate other people and deliberately do things to hurt them.

I don't know about that. Last night I bet red and up came black. I bet black, it came up red. I bet odd, it came up even. I bet even it came up odd. If that is not a natural tendency toward bad, tell me what is?
