The soul is not something a person has inside them; the soul is the individual himself. (Gen 2:7)
So, is the soul (the person) good or bad by nature?
Genesis 8:21 says in part "because the inclination of the heart of man is bad from his youth up"
Our natural tendency is toward the bad, we have to pull ourselves the other way. I heard someone express it this way once:
"As you walk along the road, you see a wallet on the ground. You pick it up, inside is a thick wad of money. There is also the owner's address and contact number. You know you SHOULD contact him and return the wallet. You might actually WANT to do so. But that does not stop your heart from thinking (even for a second!) about all the things YOU could do with all that money!"

The human soul is a divine being and the one thing that survives through out our many incarnations.But the earthly personality can under certain conditions be very deeply evil as was the case with Adolf Hitler and many others.These evil beings are cut off from the influence of their soul ,so they are lost souls for this entire world cycle.

According to the Christian faith: bad. We've been tainted by the vile touch of the devil and the sins of our forefather, Adam, curse us to this day. It is through the grace of God we are purified and deemed clean.
My proof for this is as follows: if another man were to "steal" your girlfriend, your initial reaction would be (at least internally) of great anguish and malice for either the man, your girlfriend, or both. These thoughts are evil and therefore "bad." This is human nature. Only by the grace of God and the Holy Spirit would we be able to forgive the man and your girlfriend and continue with your life without lingering feelings of hatred and anguish. Otherwise, you'd harbor ill will and inner-turmoil for a long while, possibly even indefinitely.
The ability to forgive your enemies is not a natural human one; it is a divine one imparted to us only through God's love and power.

It is neither good or bad by nature it simply is. Good or bad is a connotation we put on things that often gets in our way. I ask," is this thing helping me right now or isn't it? " And then act accordingly.
