yep it is good get one i would advise you to get the 40gb version because its less of home media centre and more of a games console its also cheaper but that depends if our into games more than mov ies

i like my PS3, it is very nice, the graphics are great, HD is wonderful and having a integrated High definition Player built into the console is good. the only concern is the variety of games, currently there aren't a huge variety on the market but this will change over time. I would suggest you have a look at the available titles for the PS3 and decide if there are enough to keep you interested. I only have 4 game discs, but i have downloaded some more from the on-line store (you download and test the demo then decide if you should buy the game). prices vary based on which game.
I recently tested the backwards compatibility with some of my PS2 games, all the ones i tested worked fine but be warned that the budget version of the PS3 is said to be less likely to run older games and decide on your purchase accordingly.

I've had one for almost a year and love it, some great games on it, namely Warhawk, GRAW2, Rainbow 6: Vegas, Resistance is good too, really looking forward to Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, Socom, Haze, and Killzone 2.
Movies look great on blu-ray, you can really see the difference, if you have an HDTV.
Upscales PS2 games, as well as regular DVDs.
How can one not like it.

120% it is. Good gameplay, great games, more than 300 games are coming soon. PS3 looka great even on usual TV. I like it. PS3 is very versatile with multimedia too.

i have a 360 and ps3, ps3 is better, free online play, an online adapter built in, more money value, buy ps3.

its crap, expensive, no games, if u want to get the full experience you will need to buy a hdtv....goes on really!
