I'd rather call him imature than insecure. Both of you are coming from a different direction here. You both have a different understanding on the word "relationship". Well I suppose the attitude can be traced from both your backgrounds. But nevertheless, the question here is do you love him enough to put up with it? Check yourself also, how do you behave with your male friends, are you flirty? How about your female friends, do they consume much of your time as compared to the time you spent with him? Best solution is for both of you guys to talk about this. What both of you are expecting from each other, what are your bounderies. Meet halfway. A healthy relationship is one who is willing to make sacrifices for each other.

God bless.

Be yourself and look this B/F right in the eye and say"Take me just as I am or leave me alone.I am not doing anything wrong, you are, and I do not find it attractive." You must stand up to him politely but firmly and tell him your terms to the relationship and accept nothing less than what you want.Get him to agree now or you will continue to have problems.Nobody has this right to be angry at another, this is not being loving.Your family and friends will respect you more if you do not tolerate this bad behaviour of your B/F,and you will respect yourself more as well.

well maybe your bf is the possessive type of guy, just explain to him that you are mature enough to handle friends not to relate it to very personal relationships and it will not destruct any relationships goin on between the two of you

You are going to have to set it down straight with him. Tell him that if he can't trust you, then you will have to leave him. Without trust, you two can never have a solid relationship.
