i say NO!!!
women and men are equals in a relationship. this does not mean that if men cheat women should just allow it. nor does it mean that women should do the same. in fact, no one should cheat in the first place. if one is not willing to dedicate him or her self into a relationship, he/she should not have entered into the relationship in the first place coz if they do, only pain will result...
women, do not allow men to cheat on you... men who do are pigs and do not desevre you love or time... they need a lesson in respect and valuing women... this holds true for women who cheat on men...
the bottom line is... cheating is not good or acceptible no matter who cheats... so DON'T CHEAT!!!!!!

Thats quite unbelievable. I always said why be with someone if you go off to other people. I think cheating is extremely wrong and a life-changing situation. Especially if a couple have been together for a while and are caught sneaking around.
Your friend though, fair enough, he has his own opinion as does everyone else in the world. But i dont think cheating is acceptable in any shape or form.

No, cheating implies the breaking of trust, the breaking of an agreement.
It's one thing to say people should tolerate polygamous or polyamorous relationsips or promiscuity, and a completely different thing to say that people should tolerate cheating.
If men or women don't want to limit themselves to one partner, they should make that clear from the beginning, not agree to be monogamous and then cheat. Or if they change their mind after agreeing to be monogomous, they must discuss it with their partner before acting. If the partner disagrees and they really can't stand monogomy any more, they should break up rather than break their partner's trust.

Since you aren't in contact with a Superior Being, I'll dispense with the Jesus comment and just say NO. Noone has the right to 'cheat' on another person without karma getting them in the end. That being said, did you establish with that person from the beginning that this was to be a monogamous relationship, or did you just imagine it was understood? That's where most people make their mistake; nothing that's not SAID is to be expected!

No. I totally disagree with your Indian friend. Just because she is "modern" she can be cheated on. I would say that if she is cheating also, then what is the difference?! HOW SAD!

If you want to be biblical, none of us are supposed to be married. We are all supposed to devote our lives 100% to God. That being said, God understood that some of us need companionship, but in the 10 commandments it says Thou Shalt Not Covet Another Man's Wife. This means we are not to cheat. In Modern Day... I still don't think it is acceptable for ANYONE to cheat. If you are in a commited relationship that means that you have vowed to stay with THAT person, and THAT person only.

Fawn,
I can't comment on your religious aspect, but NO woman, modern or conventional should put up with cheating. Only someone with low self-esteem agrees to such a policy. Your friend just has a bad attitude.

Modern or mid-evil NO ONE should put up with the deceit . Life is short or at least fast people need to relearn to be good to each other.
