It's not so much that the majority of "God's followers" are like this... it's just that the news sensationalizes it because the thought of a "holy man" doing perverted things is shocking. I'm pretty darn sure that there are many, many more sexual predators out there than what the news (which only publishes topics of general interest) may indicate.

Besides, people are under a woefully false pretense that just because a man believes in God that he somehow transcends the reach of immorality and wickedness. But Christians are sinners, too. We can't help but sin because it was in our nature since our creation. Even King David, arguably the greatest God-loving man in history, succumbed to adultery.

Also, those who put down people for not believing in God are NOT true believers. Those who put non-believers down are people whose pride comes before their love of God. For in the eyes of God (the only one with the right and authority to Judge), we are all sinners, but we are all equally cherished-whether or not a person believes in Him.

It is a bit of a generalization to say "you all do this".There are granted a lot that you hear about but this is only down to the fact that it is highlighted by the media. They simply get more publicity because of the fact that they are supposed to be following a path of "righteousness".Most believers are harmless enough but hypocrites in at least a couple of aspects of their life, thats just the way it goes but it is a bit strong to call the majority of them child molesters.
I personally find it very amusing to watch them run round saying you shouldn't do this or that and they go and do the exact thing they have just "thumbed down".Leave them to get on with it,it's their hypocrisy not ours.

Child molestation cases are more numerous in public schools. Here is an AP news item published by Yahoo News regarding sexual molestation cases in U.S. public schools.
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20071020/ap_on_re_us/teacher_sex_abuse_1

The overwhelming majority of the priests involved in these incidents are accused of sexual molestation of adolescent males, not females. This means that nature of the scandal is homosexual. The media downplayed or ignored this fact in its handling of the subject. But it has everything to do with the cause, the extent, and the cure of the problem.

The fact that most Catholic priests are celibate (unmarried) does not seem to make a difference.

In his book Pedophiles and Priests, Prof. Philip Jenkins—a Protestant and an expert in the subject of pedophilia—stated, "The most-quoted survey of sexual problems among Protestant clergy states that some ten percent are involved in sexual misconduct of some kind, and that 'about two or three percent' are pedophiles, a rate equal or higher than that suggested for Catholic priests. These figures should be viewed skeptically; the methodology on which they are based is not clear, and they seem to rely disproportionately on individuals already in therapy. However, it is striking to find such a relatively high number suggested for both celibate and non-celibate clergy" (pp. 50-51).

Human sinfulness is the real cause. But this isn't helpful, since sin is the explanation for every problem in the world. The fact that the great majority of cases involved male homosexual abuse of adolescents suggests that if there were fewer homosexuals in the priesthood there would be fewer cases of clerical sexual abuse.

You sound like a Christian or a right winger calling the majority of Muslims terrorists.

The majority of child-molesters are fathers.

Do you want to go on a bigoted rant against fatherhood now?

Or maybe you want to point your fingers at homosexuals? Because a lot of these priests molest boys?

Maybe one day people will realise that the important factor is that they are criminals. They may usually be men, be religious, may be fathers, may be homosexual, bisexual, heterosexual but homosexual as far as pedophilia is concerned, whatever, but that is *not* why they are doing it.

They are doing it because they have no respect for a child's innocence or autonomy. They are doing it because they are putting their sexual urges before the rights of another individual. It is a criminal, coersive act.

Sexual assaults are crimes.

Fatherhood, homosexuality and Christianity aren't.

1 John 4:1
[ Test the Spirits ] Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world.

That is the devils way to deter the people away from the Lord. The devil uses people with evil intentions to work in Churches, etc. to do his dirty deeds. If the devil can create doubt in your head, he is all for that. He will use the Church, Pastors, Priests, anyone of high stature to deter people away from the Word of God. The devil only comes to steal, kill and destroy.

John 10:10
The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.

The Devil is the father of lies.

JOHN 8 - The Children of the Devil
42Jesus said to them, "If God were your Father, you would love me, for I came from God and now am here. I have not come on my own; but he sent me. 43Why is my language not clear to you? Because you are unable to hear what I say. 44You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father's desire. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies. 45Yet because I tell the truth, you do not believe me! 46Can any of you prove me guilty of sin? If I am telling the truth, why don't you believe me? 47He who belongs to God hears what God says. The reason you do not hear is that you do not belong to God."

This is where I feel churches let themselves down.
The bible teaches love , it also tells follower to convert others ,many Christians are really good people but in their zeal to love people and convert them they are easily conned by these animals that prey on children . It don't take long for these predators to gain the trust of the Christians and they soon get their chance to pounce.
Also religions that don't allow the clergy to marry leads to problems and in these case they only have themselves to blame.

Priests and Youth Pastors, and Rabbi's don't become child molesters, Child molesters choose those careers which will place them in positions of trust and authority over children, Coaches, Priests, teachers, etc....

They're obviously not people of God, nor do they observe their religion in good faith.

Jesus once said, "Woe to the man who would harm a single hair on the heads of one of these little ones. Better for that man that he should be thrown into the sea with the large millstone tied around his neck..."

Sounds to me like pedophiles have some 'splainin to do when they finally meet their maker.

What do you think?
