Each embassy is different although they run by similar rules. I presume you want a job in a foreign embassy in India?

The Australian embassy currently has no vacancies (first link) but the jobs they advertise on their website are mainly for the permanent positions.

You may want to try with a temp agency and see if you can government position (in any section) or a get a low level admin job and then after awhile you'll know where to go as you'll develop contacts and friends in the system and know how to move around.

Embassies usually deal with passports, visas, client services, call centre for those who wish to travel to that country or countrymen in India. Usually you would need to be a citizen of India or a citizen of the country in question's embassy to work in an foreign embassy in India.

If you're thinking of going to university try something like International Studies and learn a second language.

What a joke! Lets talk about the latest "Embassy" under construction. Although it sticks out like a sore thumb amongst a background of rubble, death and sorrow..If you were to ask in Baghdad Nobody seems to know what it is. I managed to download a picture after much frustration( I kept getting a message saying "Forbidden Website" ) Which only made me all the more determined. You see miles of cranes and actual work being done (compared to just destruction everywhere else) Anyways this is no ordinary Embassy. When completed it will be larger then Vatican City. Staff over 5,600.00 personal. Plus it's own Police Force, maintenance crew, etc. This actually going to be run and staffed by the top 4 oil companies, that just signed the drilling rights and the plundering of Iraq's oil and gas for a minimum of the next 30 years. So this Embassy will act as the American Oil Co. HQ. for Middle East Operations. When completed, they boast it will be totally self contained with it's own water system, electric grid, air supply and it brags that it will be hardened to withstand a nuclear attack. Do these actions sound like the things people intent on liberating, establishing order and then handing back power to the Iraqi's as quickly as possible? It has been my observation, people that spend over $10Billion on an Embassy, are not very likely to hand it over to who ever the stole it from or allow any locals to work inside without a fight....Mary

I assume you are Indian and wish to work in a 'foreign' embassy. All embassies employ 'local staff' to assist with a variety of issues; simple administrative, drivers, cleaners...up to working in a press office, translating, research, being a liaison between host government and embassy....even investigating the back ground of all the above. You will probably need a college degree for most jobs, and experience in a field helps- just like any other. There is less 'who you know' hiring in most embassies. More based on qualifications. But, it helps to know someone in order to find out about the openings in a timely manner. Check the embassy website, call the embassy human resources office, newspapers, and tell anyone who will listen you are interested.

WELL TO GET A JOB IN AN EMBASSY,YOU MUST HAVE SOMETHING THEY WANT.UNLESS YOU WANT TO BE A MAID,BUTLER OR CLEANING LADY.
IT IS NOT LIKE APPLYING FOR A JOB AT KFC.YOU HAVE TO REMEMBER THAT EMBASSIES ARE PRIVATE BUILDINGS AND ARE NOR PART OF THE COUNTRY THAT THEY ARE IN..THEY ARE INDEPENDANT FROM LOCAL JURISDICTION.
TO MAKE IT CLEAR TO YOU.....YOU MUST HAVE SOME POLITICAL CONNECTION TO A SPECIFIC NATION TO WORK IN ITS EMBASSY.

ITS A SECURITY ISSUE

Since you in indian, ask the embassy there, cause alot of staff hired local to save cost, if you a u.s. citizen there you will be priority but won't get paid as u.s. counterpart.
