Truth. It requires effort and great self-control. I admire people who have patience.

Somewhat true...
Virtue simply means the ability to choose "right" over "wrong" and with this in mind patience can easily be applied incorrectly where prudence might suggest immediacy as a better course to take.
There are few hard and fast rules that apply to all situations. It's my impression of the bible, and as well of other religious books including the Cu'ran, that it frequently fails to recognize the truth of our neither black nor white reality and it chooses instead to either minimize the complexity of that reality or ignore it completely in order to give the impression of being an unquestionably infallible authority.
While the Bible's taking-on an attitude of being the ultimate authority may be acceptable to children, it is positively abrasive to the intellect of a thinking adult.

Patience (longsuffering) is the fruit of the Holy Spirit so it must be a virtue as it comes from God:
Galatians 5:22,23 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such things there is no law.
The word of God is truth.
God bless you.

There's supposed to be something behind it (patience).
That 'thing' is...faith. I agree, otherwise it sounds fairly stupid.

So they say ... I'd say up to a point one shouldn't suffer from complacency either. Maybe well balanced is understood.
