I think it's great, in my generation women were either secretary's, teachers, nurses, or at home mom's. Now women have branched out into all fields and has caused a shortage in these professions. There is no reason a man can't be a nurse just as a woman can be a doctor. Jobs must become less gender biased. The male nurses I've had have been very caring and did a super job, kudo's to all you guys!

Hmm... I dont know what kind of question this is based on the answers you're getting but as a Male Nursing Student I feel it takes a unique type of guy to be a nurse. One that's willing to serve rather then be served and even though Nursing is commonly seen as a womans job the way I see it Nursing is one of the most physically and mentally demanding types of jobs that you could ever have. I love every second of my classes and look foward to becoming a Nurse.

I know as a former LVN I was always glad to have a male nurse on my floor as there are times only he can do things we can't, and his strenght is very much in demand at times both physically and emotionally.

and I remember training as a LVN nurse and my male partner came to my rescue when a male patient got out of hand, boy was i glad to see him.

so what to I think, well male nurse we need more of them, they can do every think a female nurse can and sometimes more

We have quite a few in the OR. Not too many are "hot" though.

They're handy to have around when it's time to move or position a patient. Most that I have worked with are very competent, and great to work with.

There are a few in the ICU that are... how shall I say this... fabulous? There are also a few (again, ICU) that think they should be doctors, but apparently want to act like one without actually going to medical school. Those are the minority though.

men can be very good nurses....most of the ones I have worked with don't seem to be as nurturing or compassionate, don't want to do the mundane tasks nurses sometimes get stuck with, want to save the day....women can be whining witches, and the men can be macho saviors...but can a man do the job, definitely....does the profession need men as nurses?...what we need are good nurses, male or female...

Work with several. They are mostly good guys, but have that stereotype to deal with. I don't think gender matters, I lnow several men and woman that are both good nurses and some that are morons.

I was in hospital for 5 weeks before our daughter Heidi was born - and I tell ya...

You get so sex-deprived in there - I would have given anything for a male nurse...

*YUMMY*
