How can a question be both obscure and nonsensical at the same time?

I love this question, thank you for asking.

Contemporary society is awash in lonliness, dashed hopes, and unhappiness. This is despite the explosion of communication, opporrtunity and wild excesses in resources. Americans take anti-depressants, medicines and ADD medicines as a matter of routine and yet are not happy.

I spoke to an OB/Gyn doctor recently who after 35 years of practice declared "I never thought I would see the day when a prescribed more ssri's (anti-depressant) than estogens." This is doctor treating patients who should have nothing but happiness and opitmism.

I submit to you that people are sad because they continue to reach for what is not there. Our pop culture idols, who have everything, such as fame, money, youth, good heath continue to publicly crash and burn in substance abuse and self destructive behavior, yet our young people focus on everything to do with them.

If I knew the answer for this contradiction perhaps I would be rich, famous, and happy. Rather I say this: I believe in the sufficiency of a day's ration, clothes on my body, and a place to lay my head.

I choose to believe in gravity, electrostatic force, magnetic forces and the numberous other forces and laws which despite centuries of study by the best brains of our species still cannot be fully explained.. But I have faith in the evidence and measurable effects of these forces and find confort there.

I believe the evidence of the wonder of the world points to a creator, and the feelings of awe was installed in me by this creator. Music, laughter, puppies, freinds, and family all fulfill a need that is in me and these things make me happy.

It is sad how people believe in something that isn't there.

Yes it is sad....and it is even sadder when people can not see what is right in front of their eyes....ask your self? how long did it take the river to cut out the grand canyon you can get this information on the Internet. how long did it take to communication system that we use today it is not called cell phone service... check out the history on this item.... now the evidence that you are here...blind fold your self for a week and have your friends lead you around. and then ask yourself one the blind fold come off what is real and not real... you have not this information because you have not ask if GOD is there are not..... I ask when I was about 13 years old and I have been getting the reassuring evidences every sense.... just between you and GOD who's true name is Jehovah ask for seeing eyes and a hearing heart so that you can not being sad and once you are no longer sad share the good new with others that are sad sot that they can be happy ... the name Jehovah means " One who causes to become" you can become happy in spite of it all.. here is my email just in case you would like to talk a little more on the subject of becoming happy with your self and others evelyn52murray@yahoo.com

Not at all. Sure religion accounts for many wars and deaths, but you should take the time to consider what good it does. It gives people hope and the ability to carry on through life even through the worst of times that I can't even imagine. It unifies people and allows them to share something. It serves as a basis for developing morals and ethics. Sure there are religious fanatics who go crazy, but that's true for all religions. Now I'm not a religious person, but just because I don't believe in it doesn't mean that I think it's a bad thing. It doesn't work for me, but if it allows my best friend to live a good life, then what is so bad?

I think imagination is actually more real than we think. It is the seed to creation. My theory is that whatever you believe - is. For example a christian who has sinned might believe they will go to hell when they die. And that's exactly what happens. This is why I choose not to believe in this religion. It is very negative. Someone else might believe in reincarnation... so they come back to earth. Etc. I think our minds are way more in control of our existence than we think. God is inside us.... not without. that's where people go wrong. they are not believing in themselves. It's not that it isn't there.

I believe in God because he IS there.

Do you teach your children that Santa Claus is real? If so, Do you think that is sad?

You can't see oxygen, but you know it is there right?

Just because you don't believe in God doesn't mean you have to try to intimidate those who do. To each his own, a lesson you should learn little girl.

Personally I think its fine for people to believe in whatever they like given that none of us know for sure what is there and what is not. I think a lack of tolerance is more sad.

That depends on your point of view. I could say its sad how some people wont believe in something so beautiful and rich that is there just because their vision is blurred by a need for scientific explanations and evidence.

What I don't understand is how much people hate Christianity and call it ridiculous and then read their Horoscope thinking theres power in that. Scientists always say show me this or that and I will believe. Why can't they show me the big bang and then maybe I'll believe it.
