I think that he wants you to initiate things in the bedroom, and it is good that you guys talk about these things.
What has worked for me is basically don't think too much when things are going on. Just let yourself go. This is the time to fantasize and be whoever you want to be or make him be what you fantasize..
Eveyone has fantasizes( I know I am spelling that wrong sorry) make one of yours come true. Tell him to get you a new toy or something from the Adult store

I guess it depends on how shy you've been... But basically it sounds like he's asking for a different position or something.
Maybe you can try sex while watching an adult movie together.
Or turn the lights on, or try sex during the day.
Become more familiar with your own body by masturbating during foreplay.
There are a lot of things you can try... For all i know you've never even had sex while wearing lingerie.
