On a notebook lcd screen you want to set the resolution to the default setting. All other resolutions can make your screen distorted and probably fuzzy.

It is crap.
Looks great. Good for gamers. But real users?..........
Why do you trust Microshite - who sold XP with 60,000 known faults. Micro have a grip on the computing world. They can sell you anything - and you have to buy!

Sounds like you need to update your video card drivers to a Vista-compatible version.
